1964-M20E Posted August 5, 2015 Author Report Posted August 5, 2015 Not sure if I'm getting used to the new format but I seem to be able to move around easier. I think they did make some changes from when it was first released. I do still like the old interface better. Quote
StinkBug Posted August 6, 2015 Report Posted August 6, 2015 The new nav log is nice, and there are some other things that added functionality to the site, but they definitely screwed the pooch with the interface, at least for doing quick and dirty flight planning which was the best thing the site was for. StinkBug Posted August 6, 2015 Report Posted August 6, 2015 I decided to send an email as well, and also got a response. I'll copy it here. I can't say that it makes me feel like they care too much about their current users, most of whom seem to hate the new setup. I don't think it's horrible, but compared to the old one it's not great. Thank you for your email. I'm sorry the new interface is not what you expected. The old interface, even though we loved it, was a dead end and it had been holding SkyVector back for years from becoming a tool for real flight planning. We will not going to go back to it.Get to know the new interface a bit and you'll hopefully see that the new features are well worth it. Thanks for your feedback and for your patience. Quote

They include every waypoint on an airway in the log, I just want the executive summary please Quote
StinkBug Posted August 6, 2015 Report Posted August 6, 2015 I find having every waypoint useful for programming my 430, which doesn't accept victor airways. It would be nice if the log only showed waypoints with changes of direction, but at least the arrows make it easy to skim through and see where a turn is so you can input that point. Quote
gsxrpilot Posted August 7, 2015 Report Posted August 7, 2015 I've been a very loyal and happy SkyVector user for about 8 years now. But as of yesterday I'm in the ForeFlight web beta. It's not quite as good as SkyVector yet. BUT it sync's with ForeFlight mobile on the iPad. For me, that's the killer feature. I expect I'm done with SkyVector. Quote
Seth Posted August 31, 2015 Report Posted August 31, 2015 I went ahead and decided to create a free skyvector account just to see what the planner that is horrible in the face version looked like inside. I'm happy to say that the old drag and drop planning is indeed available. there is also a nav log that if you want a paper route for a precise flight, you can print off and use. So, go ahead and create a profile/password. Much of the functionality is still there, though there are some cumbersome differences. It's much better than the non login "face" flight plan now available. It's much closer to the old one. -Seth Quote
