Ned Gravel Posted May 31, 2015 Report Share Posted May 31, 2015 Is it just me, but at 3,500 feet, will an E model at 25"/2500 perform almost as well as a K operating at 35"/2500? Although the altitude was relatively low, this E was dialled back a bit and still, the speed difference is not that large. The E model being passed is almost stock, except for the one peice windshield and the cowl closure, with a 1400 hour IO-360 engine. There are no other speed mods on this airplane. The K model was at 34" and 2500 rpm's, and our altitide was 2500' over central Florida. Above 5000', the K model would have been benefitting from the turbo charger and running away from the E model, much more noticeably, instead of walking away.
