Choosing the Carpet Color

Being somewhat color deficient, I'm hoping to use the collective experience here to chose my carpet color.

The plastic siding is beside the color selection, it will probably be painted even more lighther with accent colors on the bottom. Anyone who has done Spatial Interior, I would really like to hear back from you...

Seek out Mike Elliot on the member board, he had it installed. As for the colors, I like the saddle and the navy. What color are the seats going to be or are?

Well, I hav'nt choosen the seat colors yet. I realy realy suck at matching colors... so don't want to make a fasion fauxpas and be stuck with it for the next decade....

My carpets and seats are the same color. I think . . . Whada I know, I'm a guy.

Important consideration for the carpet: what color is your dirt? I moved from brown back into red mud country, but close to sandy areas, too.

EDIT: my wife says any if these colors will work, but what color us the plane? Then she asked what color the seats are. Try to draw in a body color from the outside.

Just a thought but seat color is most important and will help guide you on your other choices. Best to avoid strong colors as they can become dated and could affect the value. Obviously very dark means more heat and very light means more dirt shows. Hard to see in your pic but what are your exterior colors this can also influence how your interior looks when you look at the total package.

I saw a mooney guy at the local interior shop, his wife was clearly handling the interior selection, probably a good move.

I think they should be thought of together. For the past 34 years I have always asked my wife "does this shirt go with these pants?" I would ask your wife, girlfriend or any woman rather than trust this decision on a bunch of guys (pardon the insult to any women who responded) who probably wear white after Labor Day

Well, I use to have my wife ( now ex-wife ) choose my work attire everyday and do all the color selection, but since she was given her walking papers, this role is still yet to be filled.

 

In any case, the shop doing my seats has a women that chooses the colors, hopefully she can bring her designing talents in this .

 

The exterior of the plane is White on top, Mooney green on the bottom and gold trim in the middle.

 

I don't think green color for carpet would work, but flint is probably one of the better choices...

There are 2 basic choices which go with almost everything, tan or grey. I personally don't like brown shades, so I'm going with greys, dark carpeting, light and dark leather. My car has same interior, exterior colors as my plane so I already know what it will look like.

I like that combination. The rug is dark enough not to show all the dirt. And the leather shouldn't be picking up too much heat and is dark enough to cover normal dirt too. Well done! And none of us had to take an estrogen injection to promote our female side...

Hi Houman, 

I did Bruces' spatial interior on my F when I owned it a couple of years ago, It turned out very nice. The window surrounds had to be reconditioned, but Bruce taught me how to make them look like new, and along with a new headliner, the interior turned out fantastic. I picked new grey carpet as it was complimentary to my grey leather seating, headliner, window surround trim.

One of the beauties of the spatial interior is the ease of removal and reinstallation of the panels if you need to get behind them (annual etc)

Bruce was a pleasure to work with and made sure the job was perfect, along with affordable.

How bad was your headliner to have to change it, mine is in pretty good shape according to the 2 local shop that bid on the project, both told me that only small repair and painting would be needed for the headliner, and Bruce has told me that we will do that in the time he is here.

Well to be fully honest, the color selection was made by the lady doing my seats.. so I guess it was still a female decision, but you are right, glad I did'nt have to take an estrogen injection as well.

I used SEM paint on the royalite and purchased some grey "leatherette" with fuel burn specs on ebay to replace the nasty factory cloth. Cost was about 45 for all the leatherette. Give Bruce my regards.

Late to this party, but I am still happy with the beige carpet and the beige and tan seats to go with the cream colored exterior and pleather interior panels. They don't show so much dirt, are easily scrubbed, and they don't show lint. Light grey would have similar advantages. I sure got tired of the red carpet and upholstery that had been there for the first 27 years of its existence. I can--and do-- tend to ignore the blahzh. It tends to blend right in with the scenery outside.

My plane's colours are similar. Predominantly white with a dark green stripe through the middle with some gold accents. Seats are "tan" leather (front seats in bad shape). Carpets are an unfortunate green. I will have to do some work on updating the interior over the next year or so as the side panels are also falling apart. Would love to see your finished product.

I like the colors too, although somewhat "color deficient".  I did my seats in white leather, against my will but going with my wife and the lady running the upholstery shop.  Loved the white the first 3-4 years, but my concerns have come to fruition now.  13 years of use by me on white, and they don't look very good any more.  Had I done a "friendlier color" like yours, they would look a lot nicer today.
