aviatoreb
I still think it is not impossible it was a frozen fuel line or uptake from tank. Less likely in Alabama this time of year but feasible at 17k.

bonal
Once again so glad you were able to walk away, excelent job. I saw a story on KTVU last night about a 65 year old pilot that crashed in the Sierra's a couple of days ago. he was at 13,000 feet over the mountaind when the prop on his Cherokee separated and he crashed in a high valley in the Sierras. he was injured but survived and was found 18 hours after his plane went down. They did a good job telling of the pilots skill and survival after the fact. nice to see that it's not only the fatal ones that make the news.

According to the latest Nall Report, 2013 saw only 165 general aviation fatalities from fixed winged aircraft. I think this is great news, especially since the average guy on the street would probably think the numbers are in the thousands based upon the coverage we get.
wishboneash
Glad for the very positive outcome and no injuries. No need to second guess oneself. Every emergency survived is good news. I have a Xavion running on my iPhone which might be useful in similar situations like this assuming one had time to pay any attention to it. flyboy0681
http://avclaims.com/N5626C%20Photos.htm The initial external pictures made it look somewhat salvageable, but looking at how bent up the interior is - not so much.
