Sven
Anyone who made it to the Vintage Mooney Group gathering at Minden-Tahoe care to share your experiences and photos? We tried to make it last year but the weather turned us around. And this year a flap problem is extending our annual to next month. So I'd love to hear what you all did. -Sven
mooneyflyer
We moved our Annual Gathering of Mooneys at Tahoe to Minden this year and it was a great decision. The Carson Valley is stunningly beautiful and we had severe VFR and the winds over the Sierra were well-behaved. On Friday night, we enjoyed dinner at the Steakhouse at the Carson Valley Inn in our own private dining area. Saturday morning, the Airport had put on an Airport Open House after we decided to move our fly-in there. Hutt Aviation opened the Red Carpet for us with phenomenal ramp service, refreshments, and fuel discounts. After our usual ramp time together we enjoyed a Mexican lunch (homemade tamales and all the fixins). After lunch and talks, we caravaned up to Virginia City for shopping, drinkin, and socializing in what once was the richest city in the west. That evening we went back to our hosts' home in the mountains and had our 3rd annual Weed Whacker Margarita party overlooking Carson Valley and the snow-capped mountains. Then onto dinner at JT's a phenomenal Basque restaurant in Mnden. We had 4 or 5 prospective Mooney owners who tried various Mooneys on for size and got way more info than I'm sure they needed, but it was a lotta fun. Thanks to hosts Mike and Mary Jacobs, Hutt Aviation who really treated us like gold (we'll be back), and to the Airport manager and the town for all they did for us humble (?) Mooney pilots and family.
