Battery post plastic cover

Does anyone know where/how to get a replacement for this plastic cover which goes over the battery posts? My understanding is that the purpose is simply to prevent contact of the terminals accidently when using metal tools. I have a 12V 231 if that matters. Ray

Every boat has covers on the battery posts , not sure if they are approved or require anything special, someone who knows may speak up.PROBABLY NOT FOR AIRPLANE USE.

There are silicone boots that cover most of the open positive terminals on my plane. Similar ones were on my C, as well.

I already have the silicon terminal cover, and this was in place as well when I bought the plane. As you can see from the photo, the plastic cover is starting to break apart where it screws down and if I don't need it, I'll pitch it. Was this part original with the plane in 1979? Ray

I suspect they were original in '94, but less likely, in '65.

I was not blessed enough to be the first owner of either... And they get replaced as needed.

Silicone doesn't last 45 years either....

Yes, they were OEM on my '94 J and still look new. Maybe because it's always been hangered.
