Guest Posted March 18, 2014 Report Posted March 18, 2014 Flew alongside the city this weekend, Hudson Corridor north bound and used the garmin camera to film the flight. I tried a more forward facing angle, and will get a second camera to blend in the tail-cam perspective soon. Was pretty bumpy and I used the image stabilizer but still rough near central park. (Also it looks like the GPS altitude was bumped up 1000' for some reason) Im chipping away at this till we nail the best capture, editing and filming style. http://switchboxcontrol.com/news/2014/3/18/video-nyc-flight-hudson-corridor-northbound 1 Quote
John Pleisse Posted March 18, 2014 Report Posted March 18, 2014 The music is getting better. Is this the Switchbox house band? Quote

I'm still trying to figure out why he has that major curve in his panel Everyone knows a Mooney panel doesn't look like that. And another thing, his still photos are too clear. Everyone knows taking a picture in a Mooney leads to a blurred photo. 1 Quote

This is extremely strong evidence that he is really flying a Piper Cherokee 140, between the strange glare shield and sharp pictures! A picture from a Mooney is always blurred due to the speed. In fact, the picture from a Mooney Rocket is shifted toward the reds due to the Doppler red shift as we are traveling at a large fraction of the speed of light. 3 Quote

What an experience! All I had was a simple camera. Enjoy! Quote
Guest Posted March 18, 2014 Report Posted March 18, 2014 You guys.. I need the Doppler shift. Link me to a good one on Controller Quote
Steve65E-NC Posted March 18, 2014 Report Posted March 18, 2014 Much better than earlier effort. Now we can see where we are going. Altimeter readouts are strange in that they show you landing by the ocean at 1000 ft. Liked the music. Would have liked a better view of the Narrows bridge. Daylight footage, even as light fading, better than night. Quote
Steve65E-NC Posted March 19, 2014 Report Posted March 19, 2014 Doppler Shifts are nice, but I prefer Four on the Floor. Frequency should be independent of speed. Quote
Hank Posted March 19, 2014 Report Posted March 19, 2014 Four on the Floor is nice to have, but I have learned to enjoy a short-throw 5-speed and tight suspension on crooked roads.. Frequency, however, is dependent on speed--it's a physics thing. The faster you go, the more outside light shifts toward red. Complain to Einstein and Hawking, maybe they can "fix" the equations for you. My C, however, does permit taking occasional clear photos, I just have to take a lot and cull the blurry ones. Digital cameras make this very easy. While playing with my new iPad mini recently, taking some last photos of my snow-covered home field before heading south, I bumped the video button and couldn't figure out what happened, but did learn that in the air is a bad place to try diagnosing your camera. Fixed it three days later, now I know what to do the next time it happens. Ya'll be careful out there! Quote
