JohnB Posted November 17, 2013 Report Posted November 17, 2013 Ok, I have had to replace two panel rocker switches, alternator, and one other one and now am looking at two more that need replacing. Boost pump and taxi light. Each one of these switches is no less than $300 and they take 3-4 weeks to get. Does anyone know of any aftermarket switches or any other solution? I mean, it's just a flipping switch, and why should it cost 300-$800 a piece and take forever to get? Sure would like some company (hint hint) to start making switches we can use on our mooneys when they need replacing. I am hoping this gets better when mooney starts making planes again next year, but if anyone knows a switch supply, please share! Quote
rbridges Posted November 17, 2013 Report Posted November 17, 2013 it's a common complaint. no one has found a easy/cheap fix yet. here's the latest thread. http://mooneyspace.com/topic/10576-switch-pannel-modification/#entry124718 I have ETA brand switches that are no longer produced. Quote
JohnB Posted November 17, 2013 Author Report Posted November 17, 2013 Thanks for the thread info. It's comforting to know that I'm not the only one griping about switches. I'll try to stir some motion for the Kerville factory hopefully ramping up production soon. Quote
Jamie Posted November 17, 2013 Report Posted November 17, 2013 Switch prices changed my behavior. I was using the hell out of the electric trim switch when landing. Then I saw the receipt for the previous replacement (~$800). I'm really good with the trim wheel now. (I actually like it better, but I'd use the switch if it wasn't so expensive to replace. Dumb? Maybe, but I'm NOT paying $800 for a stupid switch, not when I can simply "preserve" it by using the trim wheel.) Quote
