  1. Looks like you need a module: http://mooneyspace.com/topic/5761-gpss-steering-with-kap-100/
  2. Can you post a picture of your front mount? That is the one that will get me into the hangar
  3. Ok Mike, the purpose of this poll? Please tell me we will get lower insurance rates due to association!
  4. Thanks. I have found a few manufacturers of tow bars. Be curious which brand you went with. I like the idea of the portable tow equipment, but my airport ramp can get fairly snow covers with ice spots.
  5. I am not sure how FlightAware gets it's information. I have seen flights where it drops out near the end and I assume that is because the pilot cancelled an IFR plan. I often wonder how accurate the altitude report outs are as well.
  6. You pretty much summed up the issue. It is highly unlikely that whatever portable unit you buy and mount today will be a quick paper approved TSO'd solution. The TSO process usually also involves approving the installation for a specific make and model. The unit may be TSO'd but your installation may not be. And until that is designed and approved, buying anything with anticipation that it will be be, is a gamble. As for the display issue, as you found out in the threads, two of the big players (Garmin and ForeFlight) have a propriety hardware solution linked to them that does not include an "out" solution at this time. You will need to do like Brett and others did and buy an "out" piece of hardware to trigger the traffic upload. You can go with WingX and use available in/out antennaes that are compatible with it. But like FF and Pilot -- no bells or whistles to alert you to traffic. But at least you have more compatible antennae offerings. You should also remember that the 2020 mandate is an "out" only mandate. You are not required to use the "in" piece to be in compliance. The FAA is using the enticement of the value of the "in" to get people to see value in it. The whole ADS-B program is the FAA's attempt to improve traffic flow. The side benefit to GA is the weather/traffic. I have been wrestling with this for a few months. And I am still in the wait and see mode since I believe there will be more available solutions forthcoming.
  7. Can you tell me where and what you order to tow via a lawn tractor? I gave up on trying to find parts for my LugBug and have gotten a good deal on an old John Deere lawn tractor. Can you tell me where you bought and what you bought? Thanks.
  8. And don't they seem to all migrate in the middle of the night to the same room?!
  9. For me, looking in the mirror and seeing my father is even more traumatic!
  10. And for you "Young Guns" -- your day will come...
  11. To this day my long distance vision has been rock solid. My near vision however has been another story. I can count the feathers on a an eagle at 2 miles, but trying to read a menu in a dimly lighted restaurant is another story. I'm sure like many of you, I have been looking for the perfect solution. I have a pair of sunglasses that are clear on top and have a 1.25 magnification though a clear bifocal. Unfortunately, when the sun gets low in the sky, I don't need a pair of sunglasses but want a clear lens on top and the cheater below. I want to put a plug in for a company I found that offers cheaters that work great.
  12. My reply is this "do you need to notify the police when you get on the road in your car? Your 4000 pound Missle is heavier than my 2740 one..."
  13. I don't think the KMA24 does an intercom feature, so that duty is left up to the intercom and the reason you can hear the instructor. I would do as you are suggesting, try hearing yourself on a frequency just using the radio.
  14. Anthony -- what audio panel do you have? Side tone settings varied a bit from unit to unit, some are front set, others require an adjustment on a set screw.
  15. I had mine overhauled when I had the avionics installed. Well worth it.
  16. Ready... Just say when... Great cause...
  17. Look in the Avionics forum for "moment of Truth" thread.
  18. The seats in the Mooney go back a lot further than a Vette. You'll should be fine but I see you have a test fit offer.
  19. I have the 650 as well. If I did not add the Aspens, I would have went with the 750 for the reasons Larry stated.
  20. Basic Nav package is $425 from Garmin or Jepp. If you want the complete Garmin PilotPak package (Nav, obstacle, terrain, base, SafeTaxi, charts) it is $862 for the Americas https://fly.garmin.com/fly-garmin/pilotpak/ $750 from Jepp BUT you are limited to 1 download per cyclem for the obstacle, terrain and SafeTaxi. As Bennett said, your first born child...
