  1. The reason I asked about the age is that I ran into someone who told me Garmin does not support the earliest versions of the GNS series. Something about parts availability of the first revision of these units. If this is true, it might help sell them if you posted some pictures and confirmed their age.
  2. Bob -- I understand they re-use the senders. Mine are pretty solid. Do they need to be rebuilt or just if they are problematic? I was told that the JPI 900/930 does nothing to improve the lousy senders to begin with. In other words, if your fuel gauges were inaccurate, they will be inaccurate on the JPI.
  3. Got any idea what the name is? The guys at Agape think it is the modulator.
  4. Jim -- I think you are probably competing with 430s that have been upgraded to WAAS. There are more and more WAAS 430s showing up on the market from guys upgrading to GTNs. Last I heard it was around $3k to upgrade them (anyone who can confirm)? Do you know the year they were manufactured?
  5. Ok, it's official... a moment of silence... my installed new Narco Mark 12D+ has finally died, died. The boys at Agape bench tested it for a day and it tested fine. After re-installing, it died a hard death on the flight home. Tim -- I will call the guys in Harrisburg on Monday. Thanks for the lead. So, I'm down to a decision of where to go next. Here is where I am headed, what would you do? 1) Seek out a repair on the Narco. I installed it new in 1993 and it is in great physical shape. Just doesn't work now. Would you invest money in a product that has no formal support program left? 2) Find a used KX-155 or SL30. Does anyone have a decent KX-155 (not the A version) or an SL30 they want to sell? 3) Install a GNC-255. General consensus is that VORs will be here for a while. Features integrate with my GTN650. 4) Install a second GTN650 and be in the dog house forever. Appreciate your thoughts...
  6. Bob -- When my 830 was installed I had the FT-60 from the EI share the fuel pressure with the JPI. Not sure if the 900 series requires the JPI version. Antares -- I would be interested hearing what you do about the fuel pressure. Our factory originals did not use a sensor, just fuel ported directly to the pressure gauge in the cockpit. If you want to replace the factory fuel/MP gauge, I think you will need the pressure sensor. Whether they give it to you for free is the question.
  7. Because those Aspens can do everything!
  8. At one time he had 3 children, he now has 2. Amazing what you can sell on eBay.
  9. Drew -- that last picture sure makes it look like it is coming from the injector area. I believe this is the latest version of the AD: http://rgl.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rgAD.nsf/0/37c75db7f83d5d548625796d00529e4f/$FILE/2011-26-04.pdf I try to get it complied with every other oil change to prevent not going over the 100 hours between annuals. Let us know what you find out (I'm betting either the GAMIs or fuel lines weren't torqued all the way to specs). Hopefully an easy fix.
  10. Rags -- when I blow up your first picture, I see fuel staining on the baffling above. If it were just an induction leak, I wouldn't expect to see fuel in front of the induction tube. I would pull the top cowling and look for a leak around the injector and the line going to that cylinder. There is an AD on our injector lines. Has that been complied with recently? Supposed to be done every 100 hours if I recall correctly.
  11. That's right Santa! But what I really wanted was a working Narco. [emoji12]
  12. Hmmm. Still doesn't answer if a specific app does record the briefing. In Garmin Pilot it asks for my CSC DUATS login information, so I guess that would make it recorded with CSC. Thanks for posting this.
  13. I generally agree with you on this. The only difference is that the G1000 goes beyond the navigation functions and does integrate with the aircraft systems. I don't have a lot of time with them (a few rentals that had them). What I did notice was the integration of other aircraft functions in the system. I think the intent was good but the cost and execution of it being tied to the airframe STC was not. My personal pet peeve of the standalone products is the fact the manufacturers are allowed to block compatibility with each other. That is the reason Don went all Garmin. I want competition in the market so our pricing is reasonable and that people, like me, who are always looking for the next new technology can make the jump. As well, it will give people a choice on what they want in their planes.
  14. I didn't realize this was the case. If the DUATS providers decide not to continue recording your access, the only actual documentation of your attempt to obtain a briefing would be a FSS. Since Garmin Pilot, ForeFlight and WingX (and others) all connect through DUATS, I wonder if they maintain a record of the interaction somewhere in the app.
  15. How did I know that was going to sneak into the conversation? I got a great comeback for you Ward... When was the last time you flew and did not? [emoji12]
  16. BTW -- if you need help with the upload, let me know what you are using for a PC and I can talk you through the process. I have used both Microsoft's stuff and iMovie on my Mac.
  17. Tim - you will need to post it on a service like You Tube or Vimeo. Once it is there, you can share the link. Is this the same Mooney you had when you came to visit me?
  18. Sure is and my favorite color too! Also appears to be another one of those crazy Aspen owners!
  19. Happy New Years! Dan -- yes I had my hands full. It took quite a while to get the girls out of the house... I gotta install some sliding glass doors... [emoji15]
  20. To be quite blunt with you Bob! Time for a new picture. Think you need to add that 650 to compliment that 750. I know, I'm spending your money again. Happy New Year!
