  1. If your intent is to stay in AC the whole time, KACY is the best choice. If you want a refuge, so you don't give all of your money away, I would consider 26N as Seth mentions. If you go there, keep in mind it is a "dry" town. Need to bring "wet" in. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. That picture brings back memories... My Mom was a big "canner" and as a kid, "canned" stuff was the norm in the winter. My parents were big into dandelion and elderberry wines too. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Leave it Bob to find us an interesting topic! Bob - the only thing I would worry about is if the vacuum gets broken by being at altitude. If that happens, you will be eating lots of pickles and green beans over the next few days. On my trip to Latrobe to see Brett, I had something happen which I thought was interesting. I was carrying a couple dozen pop/soda cans with ice packs to keep them cold. At 8,500 I heard a couple of loud pops from the cooler area and I thought a couple of the cans let loose. When I arrived in Latrobe, none of the cans were popped. When I got back home and I was putting the ice packs back in the freezer, I found a couple of the ice packs had the ice split in two inside the container. The only I can figure happened was air was trapped inside the ice and expanded in the ice and caused them to crack making the popping sound. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  5. Are doing this with only the CHT/EGT factory gauges? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. I still have it... Like its a part of the family. Been with me on some really amazing trips and guided me in on some lonely night flights. Don't have the heart to toss it... Old friend... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. Ward -- looking at this makes me want to reach for a tube of Preparation H. More power to you... You certainly have a better sphincter muscle than I do! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. Can I hijack a little? Since we are talking lights, what are people putting in for LED Nav lights? I still have the Whelen strobes and factory Nav but would like to start moving over to LEDs when able... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. I agree with all that are say to get the Whelen. Big improvement over the GE bulb I had. Ironically, the GE bulb I had was never replaced in the 23 years I have owned my plane. I have heard horror stories of short bulb life, but never experienced it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. Ward -- do you know if the app version works like the website? I downloaded the app but haven't played around with it too much. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. And don't forget about "It's Groundhog Day!" Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. The name sounds familiar, Tom, right? Plane just doesn't sound familiar Give us a PIREP on the Bonanza. Love to hear how much more you are spending on fuel, maintenance, parts, etc. Seriously, let us know how it working out. BTW -- the part you made for me "fabulous". It's red now! 13. Now to make this really scientific; you need to understand the demographics of the people. I am willing to bet the 3 people with the seats filled 70% of the time are parents of young kids or swingers.
  14. Having been through the process -- congrats on being a survivor. Glad to hear it was straightforward for you.
  15. I just pulled up a video I made where I scanned back to the JPI 830 after 30 seconds. It was still on the same pressure setting. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. I'm happy for you Isaac! Find a nice day and work yourself back into the saddle. If you feel really rusty, wouldn't hurt to sign up an instructor for an hour. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. Pete -- there are many plastics out there so it will be hard to say if the plastic specific sprays will work. But I think you have a much better chance of getting one of them to stick. I would search "painting plastic" on the Internet. There are a few prep steps that you can do to make the paint stick. Here is one for painting a computer mouse. That certainly would be classified as "high wear": http://m.wikihow.com/Paint-on-Plastic Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. My 830 does not move once set either. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. LOL! Talk about timing! Is this the one with the separate electrical pump? The one I had required you to pull back on power to make it work. The amount of power reduction made it pretty challenging to continue on even to the nearest airport. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. Be a Boy Scout I think back before I added this stuff and wondered if I was just lucky or just plain dumb to fly with a single vacuum pump and a Precise Flight differential vacuum backup. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. John - my deepest condolences on your loss. It is one of life's unfair twists when a parent outlives a child. May the memories of your time together bring some comfort in your time of pain. Keep the faith... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. Nice price on the rebuilt pump. You are truly a member of the Cheap Bast$&d Club. Glad to hear it wasn't an IMC situation. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. Pete -- did you use a paint specifically designed for plastics? Sometimes a plastic need to be prepared in addition, i.e. mechanical or chemical sanding. These are the paints I have used. Not all plastics are the same: Krylon Fusion for PlasticĀ®, ValsparĀ® Plastic Spray Paint, Rust-Oleum Specialty Paint For Plastic Spray.
  24. Bnicolette had one in his J. Try searching his username and SkyGuard. I think he installed it to put that unit back there. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  25. Is this to put it into "Alt" mode when he gets airborne or to start his timer? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
