Bob,
This is Bob with N1048D which is for sale. I am bringing her in to AGL on Monday for an annual. You had indicated the possibility of a ride back to Shelby in your E. If you are still available, let me know. I would be happy to pay for fuel and lunch. Otherwise, I am trying to make arrangements...not so easy.

Bob, wow, timing doesn't work... I had some surgery last Monday and I won't be in flying condition for another week or more.
Have you asked Tamara or Lynn? Shelby is less than a 30 minute flight, we ought to have someone there that would be happy to take you there for the gas. Ask about Larry Falls, @Marcopolo... I suppose they have others... perhaps someone after work...

Bob,
I lined up a pre-buy with Hall Aviation which was passed to me my the A&P that was going to do the work for me. David from Miami mentioned AGL would be the best...unable to get through to them but if they have time Thu or Fri for a pre-buy, I'd prefer that route
Thoughts?

Matt, is there any way the plane could get to MRN? I don't think Lynn has time to go to Charlotte this week.
Did you call his cell 828.216.6482. You can text him at that number and ask him to call. Tamara is out of the office this afternoon so he may not be getting his calls. I did tell him about your post and Ron's reply.

Hi Bob,
I may need to bring the Bravo to Lynn the very last part of Dec. for a Jan signoff. I think it is sold Buyer is accepting an AGL annual as a prebuy
we will see if the check clears the bank.

Hi Mike, sorry to hear you're going to lose you sweet ride.
- Define late December, Nancy and I will be in Atlanta with family for Xmas approx. Saturday 23rd to 29th...
- Nancy is prepared for you to stay with us - she's buggin me to finish painting the guest room.
- We're installing bladders in my plane now. The bladders and the CiES will be finished in a week or 2 but we'll be waiting for JPI to get the EDM back to us - it had to be modified for the CiES. We shipped it to CA a few days ago so it is going to be close.
- I'm sure you're checking with Lynn, he'll be taking some time off for Christmas.

Jerry, I'd say it is worth at least $100 to me, probably a little more if he'd like to make a counter offer. A new receptacle is $78 @ Aircraft Spruce. I haven't heard back on what Mooney gets for the bracket or the spring loaded access door.
I appreciate your making contact, I've known about you for a long time and keeping a 50 year old bird flying means knowing who has parts! Can't have too many friends in the business. You may know my mechanic, Lynn Mace, Morganton NC. He's been working on Mooneys a long time and is now a MSC. AGL Aviation @ KMRN.

My battery is right behind the access door so a setup with the receptor mounted on the box cover would be what I need. We'd cut a hole in the access door and mount a cover. I think Mooney sells that small cover as a separate part. No rush, send me a pic of the one on the BBox cover. I measured the cover but failed to write it down, I think it's about 5.5' x 10".
Thanks, Bob

Scott, JPI seems to be pretty busy this month and Tim and I agreed it will be prudent to wait until after Oshkosh to send them the 930 to convert it from resistive to freq.
I removed the AC Delco sender from the right wing yesterday. It seems to work fine on the bench. I reinstalled and will refill tank incrementally to see what the JPI shows.
Attached are pics of the sender. It seems very straightforward. The 2 pics in front of the wood with the carpenter's rule show the rod position at its limits.
I also have dimensions and will do a CAD drawing.
Please note that the access hole is 1.5" d. The AC Delco fits through easily but I recall that we tried to go to a Mitchell sensor back in 2012 when we installed the 930 and the Mitchell would not quite fit through the hole. (My O&N bladders make the access hole a little smaller than the wet tank original.)

Bob, as a previous donor to the Mooney Summit, you will receive an email from me about a week before registration opens up to the General public as a pre-invitation to sign up. you will also be back testing the registration system Nick is building by doing so. Going forward next year, we hope to have this process very simple as we data mine your info for pre-invitation.One of the bennies of being generous. Don't spread this around or Ill have to revoke your TSC clearance We want people to be motivated with their hearts not their agendas.

Thanks Mike!
Any experience with fuel level sensors? I'm ready to pull the trigger on the CiES freq style which the JPI folks like. My plane might as well not have anything as bad as the info is. I have a JPI 930 but the floats are original resistives - 0 to 30 ohm. I'm headed to the airport to drain the right tanks and remove the sender.

Okay, understand. I will have the right Sender out tomorrow. I'll take pic and measurements. I'm a little concerned that what I have might not be a perfect shape but let's set what I find. The only access I have to the inside of the tank is through the sender hole.
Scott, I've got to decide whether to try to switch before flying to Oshkosh or wait. I will have more time for contingencies if I make do with what I have until August 1 and do the change then. I could get the senders now and send the EDM to JPI when I return from OSH.

Standby AI is vacuum. And retraction servo for step.
I'm fuzzy on what you're suggesting. "Get you the senders"? I'm calling your sensors "senders", what do I need to get? A different JPI connector?
My avionics shop reminds me we tried to switch the sensors to Mitchell and discovered that the access hole was slightly smaller than expected because of the fittings that are part of the bladder installation and we could not get the Mitchell unit into the wing. We'll want to be sure your apparatus fits through the hole.

Scott, the 930 was installed 12/2012. It was back to the factory at one point and firmware was updated. Prod Rev. 7990-2AW, firmware rev. 1.20.489 (I took it out and reinstalled it.
Sound good, my A&P or avionics shop should be able to do it as a logbook.
I live in Morganton, retired from a career in manufacturing, but I do not work for the City. Why? Know someone here?

Is this different? (317) 371-4164
You can email him mike@aviating.com
Or PM him on MooneySpace... did you find him here? He's been commenting on the Mooney down threads and might have added contact info, I'll check.

I'm replacing windows as of 05/26/16 and can put in the 201 style windshield....is it worth it? Can I call you and talk? thanks, albert adyer@fnal.gov
-
Albert, I have the 201 windshield installed in my '66E. It was done using the LASAR STC in 1995, long before I bought the plane. I did replace all the windows 6 months ago. I like the windshield but I cannot confirm any of the claims for it. LASAR says it's worth 3 mph.

I'd be happy to share what I know.
