  1. TexAir is out of stock and I discussed this with Rapco this year at Sun N Fun and they have stopped production. Does anyone have any inventory left. Or is there a retro fit to eliminate this type of filter. Looking forward to your feedback. thanks
  2. Guys I have a 1977 Mooney 201 with inline vacuum filter. It is about 5/8 diameter and about 6 inches long and goes inside a aluminum housing. I replaced it last year, but can't remember the part number or where I bought it. I know they have been difficult to find in the past. Can anyone help. Thanks
  3. Thanks guys I agree it looks like a difficult STC to justify. The Hartzell prop is 10K. Keep the wheel down. thanks for your feedback.
  4. Has anyone completed the Lycoming IO-390 STC for Mooneys? If so I would be interested for feedback. Looking for cost and performance improvements. Kindly let me know. Thanks
  5. I have a used one, but it goes with a complete exhaust system. Hate to split them up.
  6. Does anyone have any over lapping nose gear doors for sale. Look for new to perfect condition. let me know. thanks
  7. here is a list from beechtalk Hello everyone, I apologize if the notification didn't come across very clearly, I'll definatley check into it when we return to work on the 26th. as for the items that are being addressed in the 3.0 software, there are a number of minor issues that we're addressing that won't ever be seen by the installers of owners such as yourself however the main issues are: Major features • Weather radar: o Garmin GWX 68 o Garmin GWX 70 (will not be approved under the STC yet due to the GWX 70 schedule) • GSR 56: o Position reporting o Weather o Phone o SMS texting • GDL 88: o ADS-B Traffic o Weather • TCAD: o TCAD 9900B (RS-232) o TCAD 9900BX (RS-232) • GNS Crossfill (note that this is covered by the GNS STC, not the GTN STC): o Automatic crossfill of active flight plan from GTN to GNS o Manual crossfill of user waypoints in both directions between GTN and GNS Smaller features • Pilot-configurable top data fields on GTN 7XX, right side data fields on GTN 6XX • Ability to graphically edit direct-to legs • Geo-referenced FliteCharts • Ownship on the charts page • Ability to sort airway exit points geographically • Ability to turn GMA 35 ASR on and off • Ability to turn GMA 35 3D audio on and off • Smart Airspace • Ability to turn European airway airspaces on and off With version 3.00, the GTN will support the following new enablement cards: • Digital radar enablement – Required to configure an ARINC 708 port to interface with a third-party weather radar. (this has been delayed as there was a minor problem and will be addressed in the first quarter of 2013) • Ground clutter suppression enablement – Required to configure the GWX 70 to use its ground clutter suppression feature. As noted above, though, the STC will not approve the GWX 70 until later. • Turbulence detection enablement – Required to configure the GWX 70 to use its turbulence detection feature. As noted above, though, the STC will not approve the GWX 70 until later. The GSR 56 does not require any enablement cards. It does require having your local Garmin dealer install this. Let me know if there is any questions,
  8. Marauder let me know what you find out and how things work. I sent an email to my avionics shop today asking questions but no response yet. Do you know if this SW include the voice command feature. It is my understanding that there are 7 pages of fixes and improvements, one thing I did learn is that the flight charts are now geo-referenced which would e nice. it also includes 3D audio and many others. please let me know how things go. Which shop is doing your update. thanks
  9. Well I guess Garmin finally release new software update for the GTN 650/750 and GMA 35 with many new improvements and features. Does anyone have any details about the updated feature set and how you get it installed in the units. I was on Beechtalk and learn a little bit. Any information would be greatly appreciated. thanks
  10. KSMooniac is absolutely correct in every manner, it is nice to get all the information on one display to see the big picture. I am very happy with my installation, Muncie Aviation did it for me, hightly recommended. Where are you located, I am in Indiana if you wanted to take a look at it. let me know.
  11. I have a used WX10A stormscope system for sale. Here is a listing of what I have. WX10A processor with rack WX10A display head with rack, which is very clean with no scratches Antenna with doubler and screws Complete wiring harness from processor to antenna including connectors All connectors are included but harness from processor to display head was cut to remove it from aircraft. Unit was working fine when removed. picture upon request if needed. I upgraded to a gtn750 with WX500. Anyone that is interested please let me know.
  12. KSMooniac, I like the WX500 for the simple reason it put everything on one display and show route, nexrad and stormscope and at the same time and and place. gives you a good picture. however let me warn you up front to do this you will need a bootstraped KI 525 to heading stablize the stormscope. Also the the WX 500 extends out to 300 miles in front view and also give you a filter of cell and strike. Also there is a dedicated page under weather that displays the stormscope data. Anyway hope this help.
  13. I believe you are correct. WoW this is a sensitive topic.
  14. Somebody make and offer, I really don't need it anymore, but it is a good clean unit.
  15. WOW I really didn't mean to stir up all these opinions and no I am not a novice at flying I have more than 3000 hours of Mooney time both lycoming and continential. I run the IO550, 50 degrees LOP and it performs very well about 12.7 gallons per hour and all the termperatures are fine. I don't run my lycoming LOP but I can tell you havei have a balance, flow matched and ported engine and at 50 LOP it runs fine which is outragious for a 4 cylinder engine, but I am not convinced it is doing the engine any good. I understand the cylinder termperatures are down, I have studied the books and see how the cylinder temps fall off very fast after LOP is achieved, but what about valve cooling and lubrication. I have had induction leaks and guess what you burn the intake valve. More than anything I wanted to see what the consinense was with regards to LOP operation. As far as I am concerned the loss in power isn't worth it, after all way do we fly Mooney, for the speed. Also i have discussed this topic with Lycoming Eng. and they absolutely say don't do it, unless you are in a lab enviorment you don't have enough instrumentation in a typical airplane to success at succesfully. Sorry for stirring up a hornets nest. thanks for all the feedback.
