  1. I bet it is your mag. The left one.
  2. Bruce's Custom Canopy and Prop/spinner cover. Very good condition. Fits Mooney Bravo, might fit other long body Mooneys depending on the antenna locations. Located in Longview, WA KKLS $500 Andy Rutherford (360) 560-9688
  3. I have one. Working when removed to upgrade to install Whelen LED 650 strobes. Removed from 1991 Mooney Bravo.
  4. Yeap, I will try to post some more detailed pics of the install when I get home. Washing the belly I found all the rivet marks that are in permanent marker. After I received my box of parts I was wondering why no vacuum pumps? I had hoped they just didn't bother to return them to me. Then I noticed my standby vacuum switch was still in the new panel. After an oil change, my suspicion was confirmed. Garmin ordered a new panel cut and got rid of switches I didn't need except for the standby vacuum pump. They left both the standby vacuum pump and the engine driven vacuum pump on the plane. For what, I have no idea. Firewall aft everything is removed but they didn't bother to remove the vacuum system firewall forward. They did weigh my plane after and I actually gained weight which isn't a surprise because I have a light Bravo that hadn't been weight in 10 years. My local mechanic is going to remove the vacuum pumps and redo the weight and balance at the end of the month. I still feel I got a great deal because now I have all the wiring to upgrade to the G3X with minimal work. They took a couple of months longer than they said it would take. They put in a second G5 that was not required for the autopilot stc, a new cut panel and didn't bill me for that. The 50 hours that they used my plane I was responsible for maintenance. No problems came up except for 2 oil changes and a faulty CHT probe which they replaced free of charge. Overall I feel I gave them a good squawk free plane and they gave it back to me the same way. I am glad I did it because I would have never replaced my working KFC 150. Replacing a working autopilot was low on my list of improvements. Now that I have flown behind the GFC 500 I am glad I did it. Huge improvement. One thing a shouldn't have to worry about for a long time.
  5. Some cool new features I found out this weekend. Autopilot off and try a stall. GFC 500 kicks on and puts in movements to recover. You can just hold down the AP yoke disconnect switch and over ride it or turn it off all together before u practice. Of course in a runaway trim situation u can over power the servo. The best part of the GFC500 is the Yaw damper. Makes all approach intercepts very smooth on autopilot. But a neat thing is u can keep the YD active all the time. The YD can be active when hand flying. The rudder trim is not needed anymore. If I want to hand fly a climb out I just engage the YD and it takes care of the rudder. I prefer to hand fly and only engaged the YD. I tried a steep turn with YD engaged and it did a great job. The safety features work good. Did some unusual attitudes and let the wife push the LVL button. Made her happy. The plane returns to level flight. So far favorite thing about the GFC 500 besides the smooth intercepts and the YD use with out autopilot. Very simple autopilot. Wife can get learn to use it easy. Super user friendly.
  6. I probably do. I had the whole system removed. I have a box of cables, brackets, and connectors. If you send me the part numbers or pictures I can include it.

  12. 1 for roll, 1 for pitch, 1 for trim, and 1 for yaw damper on the GFC 500.
  13. I'll get some pictures of the installation tomorrow and fly an ILS to see how smooth the intercept is. I think the YD is a must if you install the GFC 500. I flew through a bunch of build-ups and rain on the way home from Garmin. My wife is used to the KFC 150 and when she saw we were going through the tops of clouds she went into her brace position getting ready for the yaw and rough ride. Came out the other side and she said oh not to bad. So the nervous flier approves of the new autopilot! The only complaint so far in the design is when you engage a function the lighted arrow above the function lights up. It would be easier if the button itself lit up to indicate it is active. That makes me look twice to make sure I pushed the right button and verify on the PFD.
  14. I don't have any pictures of the install in progress but I can take some pictures of the avionics rack and tail section.
  15. Finally got my Bravo back from Garmin. I picked it up last Friday and have put about 10 hours on it so far. I’m really enjoying the GFC 500. It is very smooth. It doesn’t wander back and forth when intercepting or making turns. The level offs are very smooth. I like that I can adjust the altimeter setting and the autopilot gently captures the new altitude without having to re-engage v/s mode. The yaw damper is great. Great in turbulence and no need to use the rudder trim anymore for climbs and descents on the autopilot. Airspeed climbs and descents work ok but not in turbulence, the airplane is too light and make rather aggressive pitch changes to airspeed fluctuations I haven’t had a chance to fly any approaches yet. Maybe this weekend. Overall I think the GFC 500 is much better and easier to use than the KFC 150.

  19. Garmin is all done. They completed the project in February about two months behind schedule. I was planning on picking up in December and then January but it wasn't ready yet. This month I wanted to get it but the time frame I had available it snowed all week in the SW Washington area where I base it. The one week a year it snows in Portland and Seattle. I could have got it home but I didn't want to risk being stuck in a hotel somewhere for a couple days on the way home and trying to find a heated hangar to put it in overnight. I had been planning on doing the flight in one day. Now my plan is to pick up the Bravo the last week of March and fly to the Grand Canyon for a vacation. I will be able to put 15-20 hours on it in March and give a report. Hopefully, everything is good to go with all the testing they did.
  20. Radio silence, haven't heard anything from Garmin since I reported last time. I will email them on Monday and see what is going on. The deadline has passed and I would like a heads up on when I need to buy a ticket to retrieve my plane. I figured everyone is gone for the holidays so I didn't bother asking when the 20th came and went because I was busy too. On another note, we found out over Xmas my wife will be back in school and busy for another 3 years. So I would like to try and find a partner in this plane around the Portland Oregon area, instead of selling it. Our hours will go down to about 30-40 hours per year. We just won't have time to travel and use this plane. So if anyone knows of someone msg me.
  21. The way it was explained to me Garmin choose the Bravo because it is the most represented model. It will cover all Long bodies. When they get the STC for the M20M it will cover the Acclaim and the Ovation. From Beechtalk I have learned that the GFC500 with G5 doesn't cover FIKI. The GFC500 with the G5 doesn't apply to FIKI planes. They where actively not looking for a FIKI plane when they took mine for testing. I have to believe it will eventually be approved but as of now from what I understand the GFC500 and G5 are not approved for FIKI. The GFC500 was not compatible with the G500 either when released either. My thinking is eventually they will have to make it ok for FIKI planes. So as of now something to thing about that the GFC500 won't work with FIKI.
