  1. Bonanza owners complained loudly enough and got Garmin to add Bonanza to the list of the GFC500 certifications in progress. Maybe if enough long body Mooney owners complain loudly enough Garmin will add them to the GFC600 list.
  2. We just need him to spoil his yokes and cover them with leather.
  3. Clearly they don't want the job - that's nuts
  4. The credit card comes in handy for all things aviation.
  5. Nope, he said it was going to be introduced at Oshkosh . . . lol
  6. The cylinders in the TSIO360-MB or -SB actually stand a decent chance of making it to TBO if flown properly. The cylinders in the TSIO360-GB or -LB, I’m not sure it ever happened.
  7. Did Brian get a free trip to the UK out of that deal?
  8. Yes, @Piloto has made that trip quite a few times
  9. Yes, they are both yours for the asking.
  10. Industrial Velcro works well and if you kick it, it just loosens the velcro hold and you can re-attach.
  11. I'm glad you found that out about your starter at your home base and not up in the middle of nowhere in Manitoba on your trip last summer. Whatever brand that was on there (probably Energizer) - if it's been on there 33 years that was one tough starter. After looking over my logs, I made a simple excel file on accessories and how many hours and when was the last date replaced on starter, alternator(s), mags, (I used to on vacuum pumps). When I did the top end overhaul and I had some down time I had both alternators rebuilt (they had never been done) and one mag done (it had 400+ hours anyway - according the accessory shop it was good I did). If I make a long trip where it might be very inconvenient if I had a starter fail (I've been to Canada a few times, the extra one I have in the hangar goes in the rubbermaid box in the baggage compartment. Having it and not needing it is my goal.) (By the way I have an extra Energizer or two in the hangar. Since I don't have Continental powered Mooney if anyone wants a great deal on a spare let me know.) (I recently got a good deal on an extra mag for the right side - I might bring that on long trips in the future just in case. I wonder if I could fit an extra TIO-540-AF1B Lycoming back there. . .lol?)
  12. When you sign the FAA registration when you use an LLC your title is "member". Mine got kicked out once because I didn't use that.
  13. I was just going off of what Concorde's site says : http://www.concordebattery.com/aag3.php?id=4132
  14. It wouldn't surprise me if they updated the 796 . . maybe an 896.
  15. MSRP on an IFD550 is $21999, IFD540 is $15333, IFD 440 is $12000. L-3's website shows the MSRP on the Lynx is $5143 for 2019 Promotional Pricing
  16. Through May 31, 2019 Avidyne is giving their dealers a bundled price on an IFD 550 with an NGT-9000, an IFD 540 with an NGT-9000 or two IFD 440s with an NGT-9000.
  17. Is this the same MSC that didn't secure your batteries?
  18. That sounds like a great combo at a great price, installed. (Everything's relative but new the Musketeer (or Mouseketeer as many called it) sold for less than $20,000 when it was new.)
  19. On an Ovation I had something similar where twice the gear would retract slowly and stay in "Gear Unsafe" longer than it should have. I should have immediately flown it to a Mooney guru and had it looked at it, but since it didn't happen every time, I thought maybe the limit switches needed to be cleaned. When I sold the airplane, as the shop who was doing the pre-buy was towing it by hand into the hangar, the nose gear collapsed and missed a prop strike by an inch. That's the only insurance claim I've made in 33 years - $8000. It turned out fine, but in addition to the insurance claim, I discounted it to the buyer. Lesson learned: These things don't "fix" themselves - it gave me a cry for help twice that I ignored.
  20. A picture of your panel would help any with advice to visualize what you are describing. Doing it all is the most efficient since you are only in there once, but it's also a major investment. If you have to do one thing right now, I agree that getting the Lynx would be a good move. It gets you ADS-B in and out and will talk to the other things you are describing in the future (AVIDYNE 440, ASPEN). Make sure if you do that they they pre-wire what will come out of the lynx to go to the Avidyne & Aspen. (The Lynx is upgradeable and will allow you to add active traffic if you ever wanted it in the future.) The 800 can't be upgraded to replace factory instruments. The only JPI's that can do that are a 900 or 930.
