  1. Without looking into details it looks like POTUS is visiting LA and will be in the couple of different locations over the time. You have inner 10NM ring (no flying at all) and outer 30NM ring where you can IFR or fly with squawk code.
  2. Well, our flight was to KVGT (North las Vegas) so we were extra motivated not to stop.
  3. 9h 15' in the air! You're are better man then I! My wife and I did 6:00 once in our stock M20F and said never again...
  4. @OSUAV8TER Not really interested to buy. I am skeptical as well and only reason for the post is as someone was saying about the cowl and not being available. From what I remember, Lopresti would not stock those even before the merger. I believe they would build to order as I remember David offering one on Likedin for a good price since someone canceled it... It's definitely a great mod, albeit expensive as gives quite a speed increase for M20F & E's, more so then M2J that has better cowl to start with. Regards,
  5. Very generous from Sabermech but what are the chances of holes on the used part matching the ones on his plane?
  6. Thank you for the Pirep! I knew the website but I never use them. Last Winter I had a problem with my KX-165 and used Bevan Aviation in Wichita (316) 946-4870) and was very pleased with them. Jake is member on MS. My unit was powering up (unlike yours) so not fully comparable, but they did similar work according the description for much less money. Rich, I would call Bevan first... Good luck
  7. I am almost 100% certain that restriction is 2100-2350. That is how my original Tach was marked as it is now my engine monitor (CGR30).
  8. So Does anyone know what is exactly is EMAPA? It seems they collect and sell (maybe?) parts and STCs for JPI, EI and others including LoPresti... including their Mooney cowl: https://www.emapa.aero/Mooney-Cowl-Kit-p/mooney-cowl-kit.htm They were bought by WAT some 3 years ago and wonder how accurate all this is?
  9. Martin, I was told the case was not repairable and I went with Lycoming factory rebuilt engine. BTW, I was told this is a typical weak spot for the old Lycoming cases. My engine was original to the plane and built in 1966. New engine has an reinforced case in that area by the Cylinder 2.
  10. Interesting failure. I am not sure what exactly are you looking for but chances of finding drawing of THAT part are virtually zero. As for possible repair, I would start with AC43.13 (Acceptable Methods, Techniques, and Practices - Aircraft Inspection and Repair). good luck.
  11. Are they? I have an F but I believe MTOW of M20C is around 2550lb (I'm sure I'll get corrected)... What is the Empty weight of long bodies? Then you add a pilot and some fuel and I bet it's over that.
  12. Good question that I couldn't find good answer in a past. I would think concern is there's a no approved OEM manufactured or FAA process. Many claim, as an example, FAA and manufactures do not approve chrome plating of the propeller spinner as it can alter metallurgy of the aluminum; those are always polished or painted. Funny, the shafts on my (and OP's) plane are chrome plated and so is the retractable step on my F. But, I'm certain couple of IAs I worked with in a past would frown if I wanted to use "non-approved" finish on my plan's control system. I'd be certainly interested to hear other opinions; I'm sure those would vary like we saw it in the past.
  13. I think some A&P/IA might object legality of the ceramic coating on on a certified plane... I'd like to hear form others about thins.
  14. Wow, your friend did a great job of landing his plane. I'm sure all of us would love to hear more about it and also about moving the plane to the shop by helicopter, once its done. There was a MS member having similar experience and posted video, about 1y or 2 ago.
  15. I did it as a part of a check out in my Mooney. it's surprising how tight you can turn if done it properly.
  16. Ouch!$ Sad to hear about your and Byron's experience. When I got a quite from them for the OH of my IO360 I thought it's too good to be true. Discussing with my IA, a lot of things were not included and by adding them, price came up close to other shop. Big thing for us was they wouldn't run the engine on a test stand before shipping to back to WA. Eventually I went with Lycoming rebuilt engine. it was $$ but worth it. Edit: I just looked it up and the price of a rebuilt went up $10k since January 2021! Crazy!!!
  17. Years ago I restored the raised lettering on King radios with Silver sharpie. It is still looking great. Models paint and fine brush would do as well.
  18. For vintage Mooney owners looking for a new style (M20J & newer) Control Wheels with shafts. I have a set of white Control Wheels with shafts that was planning to install on my M20F. I am still thinking however my plane has a PC wing leveler with autopilot that needs a vacuum switch on a Wheel (like original wheel has) or possibly panel (which I don't like). Solution is to fine Mooney electrical solenoid for vacuum line like on mid 70's Mooney but I didn't succeed so far. To my understanding, these control wheels have correct shafts to install them on vintage Mooney and for sure would fit my 67 M20F as I checked few times. with later style shafts you would need to by later style Yoke (not to be confused by control wheel) that is connecting pilot and copilot shafts. They came from M20C but not sure what year. You would need to make sure they fit your plane and there are couple of good posts on MS describing that. Please see the picture included in message and if interested I could provide you few more showing details, especially the angle of the end shaft attachment to the Yoke. There's no damage on wheels or shafts. I would like $2000 plus shipping for the set payed by Paypal Friends and family. I am located in Seattle, WA so if interested, I would need your location to estimate the cost of shipping but I estimate $25-40 as these are fairly light. Best regards, Igor
  19. I am selling two Voltage regulators for Generator. I have two, that I don't need. First one is, I believe original of the plane and was removed in January last year for engine installation and Alternator upgrade. It was working great for 16y I owned a plane. Voltage was adjusted years ago and never really changed over years from 14.2-3 VDC. It doesn't look nice but working great and I would sell it for $50 plus shipping The other is my spare unit, looking great and I never used it. It was removed from Bonanza, but it's the same type and direct replacement (by TC) for my M20F. it is Elecrodelta. I carried it as a spare for 15y which, seems, made sure original never died. I would ask $75 plus shipping (I'm in Seattle, btw). Please let me know by private message if you are interested. Best regards, Igor
