    Pilots & Paws

Sadie was rescued in MN and will be training in MI to become an airport bird herding dog in Lexington, KY. She's a two year old border collie. She was so comfortable in an airplane. I flew her from Northern Minnesota to Grand Rapids, MI.
  4. Ha! I didn't know I was so clever! Ok so how do I delete a thread? I accidentally started a thread in modern when I wanted general. ..
  5. Thank you!. I reached out to the Bonanza guys B2OSH and signed up for the formation clinic at Kokomo, IN OKK April 24-26. They were very welcoming. Brian
  6. Is there any formation clinics planned in the midwest this Spring? I really want to be part of the next caravan to Oshkosh.
  7. .
  8. Well this crack just killed my high spirits and general good mood. Just found on my IO-360 at annual on the engine case. I guess it's better to discover in the shop than at 500' agl after takeoff. 1280 since overhaul in 1993. I guess it did ok for a 33 year old engine. And I'm looking forward to a factory reman and separate mags. Now back to positive energy and happiness.
  9. I can easily see the tow limits. I trust myself more than your average teenage ramp worker.
  10. $250 Total. Well, I already had the Jeep. Spent $90 on the tow bar and $160 to weld a trailer hitch with a cotter pin attachment on the front. Bring on the snow and ice! Ok, hold off another month or two on the snow and ice. But I'm ready.
  11. Glareshield light. I've had a couple pope out before.
  12. Looks great Phillip!
  13. Yep happens all the time. Lag from tower to satellites to receiver. ADS-B traffic has a lot of flaws but hopefully will be a more reliable tool in the near future.
  14. The Bahamas run looks pretty cool! Is there a recap of that journey in the forums somewhere? Bahamas in 2015 in my Mooney!

  16. Here's mine: "There's a big difference between a pilot and an aviator. One is a technician; the other is an artist in love with flight." — Elrey Borge Jeppesen
  17. Some utility category aircraft in the US are approved for spins and not considered aerobatics. I don't know of any with four passengers onboard. The 172 can but only with two and under a certain weight. Key words though, "utility category aircraft".
  18. $5 at Walmart. I use it on my cars too.
  19. How about the recording feature on the left side of map display? Anybody use that? What does it do?
  20. Very impressive and a cool video. I can't even takeoff with 4 people and 1/2 full fuel tanks! http://generalaviationnews.com/2014/08/12/video-pipistrel-takes-panthera-for-a-spin/
  21. Just flew a German Shepard yesterday from Cloquet, MN to Omaha, NE. It was the first leg of three for the girl who is going into law enforcement screening. The logistics and coordination planning is usually set up between two rescue organizations or a specialized trainer in some cases. It can be very frustrating when you commit to a mission and it falls through. The one leg missions are rare but easy. It's just you and the party that posted on PNP. But when multiple pilots and several states of travel are involved, the mechanical and weather headaches multiply. The mission yesterday almost fell through the night before because the last pilot lost access to an airplane (rental). Luckily a third pilot stepped up at the last minute. I usually volunteer for 2-3 mission a month and maybe do one of them. It's frustrating but very rewarding! Don't give up on the pup.
  22. Welcome and Congrats! Nice looking Mooney:)
  23. What about the ICAO emergency call of "PAN PAN PAN"? What's the French meaning? Bread bread bread?
