A quick question I saw that you once had a problem with your electric trim with an s-tec 55X autopilot and the G1000. I had my electric trim fail today so when I got back on the ground I pulled the trim switch out from behind the panel and checked it with an ohm meter and the switch appeared to work fine but after reading your thread it sounds like there maybe a fuse in the autopilot that blow. If the fuse blows in the autopilot will I no longer have electric trim using the trim switch on the control wheel? If that is the case is it a fuse I can change myself?

Dan, I called and talked to Scott at s-tec he was very helpful and thought it may be blown fuse on the control board and said I could bring it to my avionics shop. John at Daytona Aircraft Services opened up the autopilot and found the 2 fuses to be good but the bottom board had a burn hole in it. The autopilot was sent to s-tec for repair.

Sounds like you found the problem, hopefully it will stay working, I had mine blow about 3-5 times, I put in an inline fuse. Ultimately I ended up with new servos which solved the issue.
