  1. Nope, issues with ships gauge no surprise, your set with the JPI D
  2. Basically need to provide a report of a current eye evaluation showing visual acuity and refractive error ,absent of significant side effects should be good to go, I currently fly with a SODA legally blind in one eye, my nightmares are if he messes up my good eye. They have light adjustable lenses where the adjust or fine tune your vision both near and far over a few weeks, one of the doctors was a pilot in the Marines and she highly recommended them plus recommended doing the bad eye to let more light in ? Appreciate your help Hank D
  3. Thanks Hank..helps. Getting apprehensive
  4. Yeah or nay…I’m to close and concerned about the outcome D
  5. Luckily it occurred during landing I was already trim up, when I taxi back I generally neutralize my trim well it wouldn’t work, but the trim wheel did. The brackets holding the servos on are weak, my avionics guy works on bigger planes jets and turbo props his other encounter with an Acclaim was the roll servo also came loose, once he got home he said self any chance a different one worked loose his hunch paid off. Obviously a weak point in the system. I’ve had numerous scary encounters with auto pilot runaway trim or worse but with an STEC a/p. Gotta stay on top of the game. D
  6. Hey David I this past weekend lost my pitch trim servo, figuring I have a 3-5000 expense, I got lucky my avionics man found a loose pin on the servo plus the other pin was missing unbelievable he found the pin in the back belly of the Acclaim. He said it’s his second Mooney that had this issue, changed the captan pins good to go. At his mercy he could have said it was a bad servo and nailed me for a major repair. So many things can go wrong or occur gotta be diligent luckily I lost it landing at home airport. D
  7. William the paint scheme and color combo gets more remarks actually from the towers and ground than my other planes. It’s awesome looking although I’m a little biased.
  8. David my Acclaim had poor compression like many had, I purchased it 13 months ago, the pre purchase agreement highlighted the low numbers a few around 40/80 therefore I wanted a complete top done before I took the plane, now a year later it’s flying like a sewing machine smooth as silk for a piston plane. Still learning flying it LOP which it likes opposite on my Bravo. The acclaim went a year and half without an oil change based on the lack of care I chose to do quite a bit prior to me taking the plane. After my first year things are going well. Your bandit is beautiful I hope you get it ironed out, I just lost my electric trim no more bragging about no issues. D
  9. I’d think twice regarding C&W, I won’t respond beyond that. d
  10. Going from Delaware to Texas in my Mooney going home commercial I can’t stomach going back commercial so I’m looking at a one way car rental which I did last year, they gouge us on one way renting but considering I don’t want to do both so I’m driving one way, I guess dumb can’t always make decisions based on cost. Anyone want to fly me down I’m in..
  11. There are quite a few Mooney experts in your area, check out the Mooney Flyer for a listing of all the Mooney instructors
  12. Wouldn’t worry if fixed properly I’d get a competent Mooney mechanic and get a good inspection
  13. I recently had a leak with fluid running out of the belly. It as a fitting on one of the nylon lines, which I had to replace. I’d take a good look fluid goes where it wants sometimes all over the place.
  14. I had my Bravo a 2005, from 2006 through 2023, only used aeroshell multi plus cam guard with no issues, changed oil every 25 hours or less great compression etc, engine was still like new when I sold it last year. Since my Acclaim has a continental which dislikes aeroshell I’m told so I use Phillips multi in it. Hopefully with same results as my lycoming had.
  15. Don when I get over to the hanger I’ll take a couple pix and show D
  16. I’d first clean the nose gear area so then you’ll have a better idea when and maybe where it’s coming from.
  17. Why not, as u know the first hour is the most critical
  18. With all due respect I went purchasing a new, newer, plane last year we checked out the cirrus in detail, my wife clearly told me she wouldn’t fly in that piece of crap..Mike Elliott can attest she bought my 2016 Mooney and Mike did my transition. Not making it about the plastic planes I really liked the TTX, I didn’t purchase one based on a Cessna station advising me how much my annuals and maintenance may cost. The high majority of newer pilots wives >>about 10-15 years ago purchased the chute of which the plane came with it. I agree they do market the life style although originally it was the Cirrus way of safety pushing the safety aspect at the spouses. D
  19. I’m unbelievably jealous of the skill and knowledge you possess D
  20. Bigger difference Mark is the famed parachute, this seemed to doom the rest of the general aviation fleet. Their model is pretty interesting setting up those that can purchase a million dollar toy and be able to slip into the Cirrus Jet with minimal transaction. Tough to beat 150 knot machine up through the Vision Jet 280 knot with ease.
  21. Don when I installed yours they were not tight enough where they antenuate properly, I tried to tighten the screw in but can any suggestions maybe adding a sliver of thin metal tape and retighten they are nicely made and want to use them. D
  22. Kinda agree to get started in a plane simple enough to concur the principles of flight before getting into complex issues like landing gear complex autopilots and systems. I started in a Cherokee 140 rental for nine hours and one month I rented a block of ten hours of time, being an accountant and a dumb one at that I calculated that I shouldn’t pay for rentals, I already fell in love with flying so quitting wasn’t going to happen I bought a Cherokee 151 and got my PPL so after almost a year later and 147 hours I bought a 1977 J to get my instrument rating in even though I had a year and about 150 hours it was quite a transition but a good idea building time learning a complex plane and getting my IR in my Mooney now 40+ years and 4 Mooneys later I’m still flying Mooneys I thought the ‘77 was a forever plane wasn’t buy the Mooney line of planes were. It’s seems difficult to say especially when I was a young one to say I’m buying my forever plane, things change. A client of mine bought his forever plane a nice single had engine failure and scared him into NOT flying in a single engine plane he now a a twin. Stuff happens and changes occur D
  23. David as Fritz mentions I’d dry off all the damp spots most likely TKS fluid not condensation it’s a PIA to find it all mine was drenched from the 5\16 tubing coming apart. Good idea spraying the rod ends, wish I thought of that before putting it back together. D
