  1. Attention all North Central USA Mooney pilots! There will be a Fly-in at Willmar, Minnesota (KBDH, has ILS and GPS/LPV, don’t try to land at the old closed airport a couple miles to the east) where Mooney Service Center Willmar Air Service (http://www.willmarairservice.com) is located on Saturday, May 21. This will be the second fly-in of the new Vintage Mooney Group NC chapter. The first one in Peoria last fall was affected by difficult weather so hopefully we will have better luck. It will start on Saturday, May 21 at 10:00 am Central Time, but only a rough time, see below. If the weather is not safe for the fly-in, I will send a mass email like this to alert to a reschedule to Sunday, May 22 based upon my judgment on the weather and the prospect for better weather on Sunday. Your hosts will be: 1. Bruce Jaeger, former owner of Willmar Air Service and well-known expert Mooney pilot and instructor also with years of experience in Mooney sales and service. http://www.jaegeraviation.com/ 2. Brian Negen, new owner of Willmar Air Service. http://www.willmarairservice.com 3. Paul Beck of Weep No More. http://www.weepnomorellc.com/about.html 4. Mitchell Gossman, 25 year private pilot, 3 years into ownership and flying of a Mooney. 5. Tim Lundquist, Strategic Aircraft Sales. 6. Any and all official VMG NC founders who can be there. Subjects will be: 1. Most importantly, subject #1 will be to discuss desired subjects for future fly-ins! Come armed with ideas for this and future location ideas. 2. From about 10:00 am to 11:30 am, let’s socialize and admire each other’s airplanes on the flight line. 3. Hamburgers and Hot Dogs on the grill at 11:30. 4. Beginning 12:00, the very informal talk will begin, and please with any interruptions for anything that moves you. I will say a few words about what it is like being a fairly new Mooney pilot, what I had to learn and re-learn to be a safe pilot when transitioning from a fixed-gear, lower HP, draggier airplane. 5. Bruce Jaeger will talk about engine management. 6. Brian Negen will talk about general Mooney maintenance and what to watch for as pilots. 7. Paul Beck will talk about fuel tank weeping and leaks. 8. We’ll try to arrange to put an airplane on jacks and demonstrate emergency gear extension for those of us with electric landing gear. 9. Questions and answers and general socializing. I would estimate that we can plan on heading home around 2 pm but anyone can hang out later if you want of course. Please go to http://www.vintagemooneygroup.com/VMGNorthCentral/register.htm to register for this fly-in and also please email me at n1149x@gmail.com with an RSVP including your name, cell phone, preferred email address if different from where you send the email, tail number, type of plane, home base airport, hamburger vs. hotdog preference, and preferred soft drink. Will pass the hat for food costs. Bruce and I will bring grills, plates, utensils, ketchup, mustard, and other picnic essentials. Feel free to join up at that website for Vintage Mooney Group North Central. Mitchell Gossman
  2. I had not seen those, thanks for the tip! Mitch
  3. Anyone have any opinions on the EI Digital Tach and MP? I have the stock ones that are dimly illuminated, interested in improving visibility and adding a more high-tech appearance. Mitch
