  1. Southwest Texas Aviation or Don Maxwell only.
  2. His tail number is 2 away from the retired Embry-Riddle trainer I used to own (N19NS). It's been a rough few weeks in our area for plane crashes.
  3. Excellent. Hope you sell this and find a Seneca II, III, IV, or V soon!
  4. Have you decided what you're upgrading to?
  5. Water flying is the most fun flying there is. I got my SES in a J-3 and MES in a Grumman Widgeon.
  6. If you're a seaplane pilot with enough hours, go do your ATP SEL & SES in the same checkride with a longtime client of mine. You pick: Husky or Beaver http://www.ryanseaplanes.com/
  7. 2021: Become an airplane owner again. I'm not sure if the recent plumbing disaster at our house kicked this to 2022.
  8. He signed it "Very respectfully" so I don't know why you're complaining.
  9. Nice panel. This is very similar to what I'd want.
  10. Anyone can make a Mooney fly straight, but those without rigging boards will also make the plane 3 knots slower.
  11. AGL is a great option just like Maxwell or SWTA.
  12. I didn't have anything exceptional in the flying department...but... Airspeed insures almost 140 Mooneys now!
  13. I would love to but I'm in the middle of a massive plumbing repair job and corresponding insurance claim. Here with contractors every day and getting stuff organized & handled with home insurance. 59 year old cast iron sewage pipe gave up...and gave up big time...
  14. I don't think it will affect the premium much...I think they're just looking for homes for people who have lost coverage.
  15. AOPA pre-binds their renewals and you have to tell them not to renew otherwise they just treat you like they are renewing.
  16. He patched the left tank on my M20K for the low-mid $1000 range back in 2012 or so. Never had a problem after
  17. If things align just right, you find an AZ plane for @KLRDMDto look at first, then when he gives you the thumbs up, you have the seller fly it to Maxwell for Pre-purchase/annual. Then you send the money and view the plane in person for the first time when you now own it.
  18. Jimmy Garrison just emailed about one coming available soon... 2000 M20R Ovation, 310hp Upgrade, Flight Into Known Ice Certified (FIKI). Two Owners, Always Hangared. 1700 Total Airframe and Engine (Note, this time may be lower - we are verifying a discrepancy between Hobbs and Tach - check with me on this when you call or write and I will explain). <1000 since all new Continental Cylinders. Midwest M20 310hp Upgrade with Hartzell 3-Blade 'Top Prop'. AST Weeping Wing TKS System for Flight into Known Ice. Garmin GNS-530W. Garmin GNS-430W. Garmin GTX-330ES ADS-B. WX-500 Stormscope. King KFC-225 Autopilot with Flight Director / Integrated Altitude Select / Vertical Speed Select / GPS Steering (GPSS). Shadin Fuel Computer and JPI EDM-700. 115cf Oxygen / Engine Heater / Co-Pilot Brakes / Standby Alternator / 102 Gallon Tanks. Nice Paint (White over Blue). Nice Interior (Tan Leather). $239,000. The Aircraft is scheduled for a Mooney Service Center Annual Inspection to begin next week. This would be an excellent time to have a prebuy done and possibly save some money moving the plane to a separate prebuy. The aircraft is located on the West Coast.
  19. Don Maxwell Aviation and SWTA are the only two shops in Texas I'd trust with a pre-buy, annual, and major service & repair. There are a few others to use in between if you need some work done. Sorry to hear of your troubles. Also, they'll be worth the trip from west Texas. Then catch SWA home from AUS if you leave with Southwest Texas Aviation or fly American home from GGG. Or find someone near you with a Mooney and swap rides to/from either shop if you have annual inspections due in successive months.
  20. I’m 5’ 11” and cannot fit vertically in the front of a PA46. Major slouch and corresponding backache if I want to.
  21. Which will make my nervous flyer wife happier? I like flying but I prefer to have company on the plane.
  22. Congrats on the speed upgrade. I hope my next plane is an M20R but a close second is the SR22.
  23. One thing I didn’t mention on the phone - your rate is maybe $200-300 higher than what I would get someone with the exact same flight experience except at age 60. Not all of it is age, a lot of it is the market itself (which, unfortunately, needed a correction) In other words, $1200/yr was unsustainable for what they were insuring.
  24. Stay with USAIG
