  1. More than several Bob, way more than several on MS, if you've been paying attention.
  2. About the same story....in 1997, on my way to SAT to party with old Air Force buddies, I flew my J into tiny Gladewater to see if this Mooney 'guru' was all he was cracked up to be. He and his team were, and are! When the boss gets under your plane to check things out, then takes it on a quick test flight, as he does all Mooney's.....that's a find! Missing my Mooney, Gladewater, Longview, Don and the Chicken Basket.
  3. Dear Mooney Enthusiast,We had a great turnout for last month’s lunch at Bartow. In spite of IFR weather in the morning we had 13 Mooneys and 1 Bonanza bring 31 people to lunch. Our count was 31 and the restaurant said 35. After lunch the weather was fine. I hitched a ride to Bartow with Jake Kertz and was able to pick up my Mooney from it’s annual inspection which was done in Bartow. Our next event will be at the Tiki at the Fort Pierce Airport (KFPR) this Saturday, March 10.All events start at 11:30.Please check your e-mail before attending as sometimes I make last minute changes for various reasons.Future ScheduleMarch 10, Fort Pierce (FPR)April 14, New Smyrna Beach (EVB) at the Lost LagoonMay 12, Fernandina Beach (FHB) One of our members who lives in the area has arranged for us to eat at the Brett's Waterway Cafe and is also arranging transportation to and from the restaurant.June 9, Sebring (SEF).I really appreciate it if you can e-mail me by Thursday night of the week of the event and let me know if you are going to try to make it, so I can call the restaurant on Friday with a head count. No one is obligated to come if they told me they are coming and can’t make it for mechanical, weather, health, or any other reason.Hope to see you soon,Dave and Ruth
  4. That 'joke' sadly parallels the experiences of too many of my old friends. I'm happy to say.....not me, however
  5. Last month 5 Mooney's and several cars brought 22 people to lunch at Leesburg. The local EAA Chapter, 534, cooked a lunch of hamburgers and hot dogs. After lunch we car pooled folks to our house to see Ruth’s Garden RR. We had 7 trains running, and a good time was had by all.Our next event will be at 11:30 this Saturday, February 10, at Bartow (BOW)Future Schedule February 10, Bartow (BOW)March 10, Fort Pierce (FPR)April 14, New Smyrna Beach (EVB) at the Lost LagoonMay 12, Fernandina Beach (FHB) One of our members who lives in the area has arranged for us to eat at the Brett's Waterway Cafe and is also arranging transportation to and from the restaurant. Dave wants you to email (daveanruth@aol.com) him by Thursday night to let him know if you are planning on attending. He then calls the restaurant on Friday with a head count. Of course no one is obligated to come if they then can’t make it for mechanical, weather, health, or any other reason. The weather is looking great and Bartow is an interesting airport, so get some flying in.
  6. Just get her done right! The wait will soon be over, and you'll have some interesting stories to tell. I'm saving the design manual for you...just in case.
  7. ...and is probably helping you to post. I've used Phil for more years than I care to admit, and I believe I sent flyboy0681 to him. Speaking of which, sounds like you have your plane back Mike. How is she flying, and what paint scheme did your partners finally agree on?
  8. From Dave: Dear Mooney Enthusiast,We had a good meeting in December. The weather was low IFR, but 4 Mooneys and several cars brought 16 people out for a nice lunch in Punta Gorda. Our next event will be this Saturday, January 13, at the Leesburg Airport. The local EAA Chapter will be cooking hamburgers and hotdogs for us at their hanger. After lunch we will have cars take whoever is interested to our house ( a 15 or 20 minute car ride) to see Ruth’s outdoor garden railroad. She has 1,000 linear feet of G-gauge track in 4 loops and, weather permitting, we should have 6 trains running. Rides back to the airport will also be provided. All events start at 11:30.Please check your e-mail before attending as sometimes I make last minute changes for various reasons.Future ScheduleJanuary 13, 2018, Leesburg (LEE) Chapter 534 of the EAA will cook us hot dogs and hamburgers in their hanger. Afterwards we will transport everyone that wants to see Ruth’s garden railroad (1,000 linear feet of G gauge track in 4 loops, with probably 6 trains running) to our house and back.February 10, Bartow (BOW)March 10, Fort Pierce (FPR)April 14, New Smyrna Beach (EVB) at the Lost LagoonI really appreciate it if you can e-mail me (daveanruth@aol.com) by Thursday night of the week of the event and let me know if you are going to try to make it, so I can call the restaurant on Friday with a head count. 9. Without names and/or tail numbers, I don't buy that story. Sorry, but I've been viewing Hawk paint jobs for twenty years, have spoken to 100's of owners and have never heard of one such complaint. However, I have heard and read of ArtCarved issues right here on MS. Hopefully they were just growing pains. You pays your $$, you takes your chances....
  10. From Dave: Dear Mooney Enthusiast, We had IFR weather with rain, cloud, and light turbulence for our last event in Vero Beach, but three Mooneys brought 8 people together for a good time visiting and eating. Our next event will be this Saturday, December 9 at Punta Gorda (PGD) at 11:30. The forecast for Saturday at PGD is currently mostly Sunny, so hopefully it will be a nice day. All events start at 11:30. Please check your e-mail before attending as sometimes I make last minute changes for various reasons. Future Schedule December 9, (PGD) January 13, 2018, Leesburg (LEE) Chapter 534 of the EAA will cook us hot dogs and hamburgers in their hanger. Afterwards we will transport everyone that wants to see Ruth’s garden railroad (1,000 linear feet of G gauge track in 4 loops, with probably 6 trains running) to our house and back. 11. In spite of IFR weather last month 10 people in 7 Mooney's flew into Flagler for lunch. A good time was had by these competent instrument pilots and passengers. The next event will be this Saturday, November 11, at Vero Beach (KVRB) at 11:30. Future Schedule: November 11, Vero Beach (VRB) December 9, Punta Gorda (PGD) January 13, 2018: Leesburg (LEE). EAA Chapter 534 will cook hamburgers and hot dogs in their hanger, and then we car pool anyone interested to Dave's home to see Ruth’s outdoor garden railroad. They usually have 6 or 7 G gauge trains running on her four loops and 1,000 feet of track. February 10, Bartow (BOW) March 10, Fort Pierce (FPR). Please e-mail Dave (DaveanRuth@aol.com) by Thursday to let him know if you are going to attend. He then calls the restaurant on Friday with an approximate head count. No one is obligated to come if something better comes up, or the weather is to daunting. Get out and do some flying!
  12. It's a simple courtesy to let us know what your reaction to advise is, Bert. School is now out
  13. Our last event was canceled because of Hurricane Irma. Most members reported minimal or no damage to their property with the exception of one member whose plane was damaged while flying it out of state. Unfortunately we all know who that is. Luckily no one was injured in the incident, and the Mooney will live to fly again. Our next event will be this Saturday, October 14, at High Jackers Bar & Grill at the Flagler Airport (FIN) at 11:30. Future Schedule: October 14, Flagler (FIN) November 11, Vero Beach (VRB) December 9, Punta Gorda (PGD) Try to email Dave (daveanruth@aol.com) by Thursday night to let him know if you plan on attending. He then gives the restaurant an approximate head count. No one is obligated to come if they can’t make it for any reason.. Hope to see you soon!
  14. I bet there are a lot of wings available, out and about. Heck, many of them are attached to old M20's that are selling for a lot less than $90K, and they might even have a decent and usable prop. I suggest you call Maxwell, flyboy. He has saved too many Mooney's to count!
  15. As I get further away from GA, I haven't been posting all the fatal and mostly stupid pilot tricks I read about. Here is a M20C one that happened a few days ago: http://www.newsday.com/long-island/suffolk/hauppauge-pilot-dies-in-plane-crash-that-killed-race-driver-1.14211684
  16. Sorry to tell you that it's far from over....we've been battling it for five years, and like a virus, it keeps coming back. No, the initial SS# was made public by a local hospital, NOT my name on MS
  17. Me too.....and I think you can do it!
  18. WOW.......and we wonder why the factory isn't a thriving business. Have you turned the plane over to anyone yet?
  19. Back when MooneySpace was starting up, I suggested to Craig that full name, physical location, airport base, airplane model and tail number be REQUIRED on our left side bio's. He didn't want to restrict access, so declined.... It seems to have worked out OK As for me, how do I know if BillC is a real name, and why he looks like a dog is beyond me?
  20. If a new wing is in your future, see what the factory will charge you. A salvage wing will, I think, carry the sigma of a salvage title.
  21. My power just came back last night, and clean water is back this morning. So sorry to hear about 61Z, Mike. A Mooney that flew as well as it looked. I have a feeling from everything you've said, that she will fly again, hopefully with you at the controls. Ft. Lauderdale did OK in most places. Lots of trees down and landscaping in tatters. 5 days without power was easy compared to the 14 days without power after Wilma. This time I didn't have a Mooney to worry about. Back to clean-up, both outside and inside. I trust you are the partner handling the insurance claim, Mike. Good luck!!!
