  1. Scott....that's not nice! Seriously, there is a bug in this free sevice we're on. The same thing has happened to me, and I don't believe anyone is pirating your computer or network, Immelman.
  2. ...also good for scraping mud off your shoes.
  3. Quote: Mitch Hi Harley. Ok, now you're talkin'. To me the Mooney is THE most attractive airplane. I fell in love with the LOOK way back when I was 10 years of age. Everything you described I agree with. Sometimes I just sit in the hangar and stare at that lovely looking machine. To each his/her own of course. My step. As I stated previously, it destroyed my baggage compartment area on the gear up landing, so I have strong feelings for it in that regard. My wife and I still have the potential for the same type of damage with a gear up landing on both planes as each one possess that DREADED STEP! ha! Enjoy every minute of that gorgeous Mooney!
  4. Quote: wmrunyon Captains, ..... She wants a cabin class plane with pressurization.....Fly safe and train often. All my best, bill
  5. Actually it wasn't as much the Air Force as it was the Clinton White House doing a deal with England. The Siai Marchetti SF-260, IIRC, came in first. I've actually got the test reports somewhere. Mooney should have gotten the contract!
  6. Taken in May at LAL. She's all cleaned up and looking fine. Would have been an interesting civilian product if the USAF had gone for it. Underpowered and not responsive enough for the AF test pilots, however. Their final choice didn't work out real well.
  7. The plane is listed for about $30K more than it's worth, in my opinion. The panel has been completely redone, and having a new 3 blade prop, an O/H and a paint job, all at the same time, when the plane was 7 years old suggest a gear up in my experience. Check the log books carefully, and good luck!
  8. Quote: jlunseth I don't have any helpful opinions, I am doing the same thing, and would be interested in hearing what people have to say who have done this. I would also be interested in knowing what the quotes usually are. I have a quote to refoam and reuphoster the two front seats, cover the panels with fabric, and replace the windlace, at $6k.
  9. How about GOOD aviation apps for a Black Berry?
  10. Quote: mjc I have to disagree, though I do think you are close.
  11. I know a guy who removed the step from his 231.....gained .0000002 kts. The claim of gaining2-3 kts. just proves that the imagination of pilots kick into high gear when discussing airspeed. Having flown a 177RG for several hundred hours, it is a very nice plane for older pilots who aren't in a hurry to get anywhere, and who don't mind paying much more (double) for annuals, than a similar Mooney would cost. Good shade under the wings, when on the ground, also.
  12. What a unique beauty.....welcome Sven!
  13. All American is first rate, and enjoys a well earned reputation in the Mooney commnity.
  14. Quote: mooneygirl Also remember that for $29 additional you can get the legal representation from AOPA. This allows instead of the one instance per year, unlimited consult in the case of an aircraft purchase. They are helpful, knowledable and for $29 it is hard to beat.
  15. I think JPI gives you a trade-in allowance for an EI, and their 830 is very sweet. http://www.jpinstruments.com/edm_730_830.html
  16. Quote: 16LPilot I'm in KVNY. Maybe we can have a small fly-in at KCMA and anyone who's got a Mooney in the area can educate those of us who are trying to learn (show us their planes, etc.). Maybe a few weeks from now? Waypoint Cafe has an awesome tri-tip sandwich.
  17. The next Florida Mooney Lunch Group event will be next Saturday, October 10th, at the Tiki Restaurant, Fort Pierce (KFPR) at 11:30. Please let me or Dave know by this Thursday night if you plan to make it to Fort Pierce for lunch so we can give the restaurant an idea of how many to expect. Come meet some new or "old" friends. Maybe Arron will show up, with his new paint job, on the way down to Key West, so bring your sun glasses. FYI....Future Events: October 10, Fort Pierce, (FPR), Tiki November 14, Punta Gorda, PGD) Skyview Cafe December 12, Flagler, (XFL), High Jackers
  18. Aaron....I like your paint design much more than I like your chances for a happy Saturday night next week. Go Gators!
