  4. Our last event was very nice in spite of rainy, nasty weather. We had 9 people show up at Flagler in 4 Mooneys. We had the room to ourselves, and the food, service, and visiting were great. Our next event will be at the Honoluana Island Grill at the Venice airport (VNC) on Saturday, January 9, 2010, at 11:30. The FBO has moved to the other side of the ramp, making a bit of a walk to the restaurant. But, if you park in front of the old FBO building or near the restaurant they have a gate into the restaurant. You just have to call 941-483-3553 and they will have someone let you in -- just don't forget to bring your cell phone. The number to call is on the gate. We are supposed to have the restaurant's upstairs room to ourselves, and Gary Hellman, who recently had his Mooney painted will be talking or leading a round table discussion about lessons learned getting a plane painted. Future Events are all on the Second Saturday of the Month January 9, Venice (VNC), Honoluana Island Grill February 13, Winter Haven (GIF), Richard's Cafe & Deli March 13, Vero Beach (VRB), CJ Cannon's April 10, Ormond Beach (OMN), River Bend Golf Cafe May 8, Bartow (BOW), Airside Bar & Grill June 12, Flagler (XFL) Hi Jackers All events start at 11:30. We appreciate it if you can e-mail Dave (daveanRuth@aol.com) by Thursday night of the week of the event and letting him know if you are going to try to attend so he can call the restaurant with a head count. In any event, no one is obligated to come.
  5. Quote: JimR .......I've read that the fixed step extracts a 1 mph speed penalty, but who knows whether that is true or not. I personally think that the best reason not to have a step installed is the cleaner asthetics.
  6. Sounds about right.... One word of caution, delayed maintenance in the short term, costs you double in the medium term. Sure hope my wife doesn't read this thread. I usually drop the last zero when telling her my Mooney expenses.
  7. Solution is a good boat fiberglass repairman and a little reinforcement. Or so I'm told. ;-)
  8. Very nice....our group has a surprisingly large number of paint jobs this year. Mine came out very well. See my gallery.
  9. That blinking red nose light isn't FAA approved, and you'll be prime for a ramp roof check! http://mooneyspace.com/s1106/weihnachten/xmas-smilies.html'>
  10. Very nice....best of luck with that sweet bird!
  11. SagemGuy.....gear up or gear down? Personally, I will need a GOOD reason to drop my gear on an off-airport landing.
  12. Our last event, at Punta Gorda, was very nice. We had 17 people, 6 Mooneys, and one Navion. The food and service were great. The only problem was when one of our members tried to come through the gate from the ramp instead of going through the FBO. Airport Security was all over him, but understood and after a bit sent him off in the right direction. Our next event will be at High Jackers at the Flagler Airport (XFL). They have a new control tower, that is not well published. Tower frequency is 118.95 and ground is 121.75. Please be sure to give them a call on your way in. Future Events are all on the Second Saturday of the Month December 12, Flagler (XFL), High Jackers January 9, Venice (VNC), Honoluana Island Grill....round table - lessons learned about paint jobs February 13, Winter Haven (GIF), Richard's Cafe & Deli March 13, Vero Beach (VRB), CJ Cannon's April 10, Ormond Beach (OMN), River Bend Golf Cafe May 8, Bartow (BOW), Airside Bar & Grill All events start at 11:30. I really appreciate it if you can e-mail me by Thursday night of the week of the event and let me know if you are going to try to make it, so I can call the restaurant on Friday with a head count. No one is obligated to come if they told me they are coming and can't make it for mechanical, weather, health or other reasons. Hope to see you soon, Dave and Ruth daveanruth@aol.com

  14. Quote: Piloto Assuming the IO-390 outputs 210 HP the most velocity increase you will get over the IO-360 is 1.6%. That's about 2.5 kts, tops. José
  15. Quote: sixsixX Great thanks for the info guys and Scott, your paint inspired me for a similar scheme just in blue when i first saw it on this site, Crider also did my cherokee , its actually used in a photo on there web site, They did an awesome job The mooney is in for paint and avionics now. Again thanks for the info on the heating, Jim
  16. Are you fabricating new instrument racks also?
  17. I've flown wearing both, and you won't go wrong with either. Bluetooth on the Zulu is nice, IF you use it. For me, the Bose is more comfortable, because the Zulu clamped down a bit too tight. I played with both of them at the deserted AOPA convention in Tampa. Bose direct has a $300 trade in allowance for old Series One and Series Two headsets, that you can get for a song on e-Bay. Bose is USA produced, they both have excellent customer service....it just seems you need it more with Lightspeed. For my $, Bose is still tops, with everyone else chasing them.
  18. Please do talk to them, Mitch, because the same exact post at least five times, under five different topics, at the same time, is classic
  19. Interesting Carl. It very well may have something to do with the problem. Craig...are you listening? Of course, we may have discovered a portal to parallel universes
