  1. That's the way to do it, John. Anyone want to venture a guess on who was doing the repairs and maintenance on "salvage" N201RD? What a shame.
  2. Nor are we! It won't be long, when people will wish they had DMax, at his worst, rather than the local shade tree guy. He spends so much time on the phone, helping guys without charging them, that his time supervising is impacted. He has IA help for that....and we all know how easy it is to find and hold onto good help. The King, and a treasure...for sure!
  3. Best of luck with that beautiful, fast and comfortable Mooney!
  4. We had a nice lunch last month with 4 Mooneys, 1 Lake, and 1 Mercedes bringing 11 people together at Williston. Our next event will be this Saturday, August 11, at Lake Wales (X07). There is no restaurant on the field, but the airport manager, Jared DeLong is arranging to have a city van drive us to an nearby place. So fly in, park on the ramp by the self service fuel, and a van will take you to the terminal building and then to the restaurant. This has worked well in the past. Ruth and David are up in Michigan via his seaplane, so he would appreciate it if you thank the van driver, and if someone sends him an e-mail afterwards telling him how it went and who was there. All events start at 11:30. Future Schedule: August 11, Lake Wales (X07) September 8, Winter Haven (GIF) October 13, Flagler (FIN) November 10, Vero Beach (VRB) Try to e-mail David (daveanruth@aol.com) by Thursday to let him know if you are going to attend. He then lets the restaurant know the approximate head count. Of course no one is obligated to come if something better comes up. Do some flying, meet people with the same interests, and have some fun!
  5. The "best" schools are free! USAF, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard....like that. If he can't handle the military, transfer to Embry Riddle University.
  6. I have one or two of those memory boxes from a KLN90 somewhere, if that's what you need.
  7. All that red....my eyes, my eyes
  8. We had a good time at our last event, lunch at Sebring. Five Mooneys and one Bonanza brought 14 of us together for good food and company. Our next event will be this Saturday, July 14, at Williston (X60).All events start at 11:30.Please check your e-mail before attending as sometimes I make last minute changes for various reasons.Future ScheduleJuly 14, Williston (X60)August 11, Lake Wales (X07)September 8, Winter Haven (GIF)October 13, Flagler (FIN)I really appreciate it if you can e-mail me (daveanruth@aol.com) by Thursday night of the week of the event and let me know if you are going to try to make it, so I can call the restaurant on Friday with a head count. No one is obligated to come if they told me they are coming and can’t make it for mechanical, weather, health, or any other reason.Hope to see you soon,Dave and Ruth
  9. Great looking paint job....Hawk has done it again, Bob! Hope the FAA likes the N# size. I sure do. Nice that the paint didn't wash off, flying through the rain. Enjoy showing her off!
  10. I have an IFRW NavData card and a Jepps Skybound data loader. If interested, PM me, but note I'm not a CB anymore
  11. Our last event was very pleasant. Our member David Ansley arranged and paid for transportation from the Fernandina Beach Airport to a restaurant on the water front. The food was great, and all 14 of us had a great time. THANK YOU DAVID. Also in attendance at the airport were 6 Mooneys and 1 Bonanza. Our next event will be this Saturday, June 9, at the Sebring Airport (SEF).All events start at 11:30.Please check your e-mail before attending as sometimes I make last minute changes for various reasons.Future ScheduleJune 9, Sebring (SEF).July 14, Williston (X60)August 11, Lake Wales (X07)September 8, Winter Haven (GIF)I really appreciate it if you can e-mail me by Thursday night of the week of the event and let me know if you are going to try to make it, so I can call the restaurant on Friday with a head count. 12. I recall seeing that plane at fly-in events years ago, and the stories about Alehandro are epic, highlighting the worst aspects of SoFL. My advise is if you don't want to fall into another expensive black pit, call Phil Jiminez at KAVO first thing. Most records can be reconstructed, and the longer you own the plane and build a 'new' history, the less the pain will be when you go to sell it. There is no corporate administration over Phil, and as long as he's been at it, I bet he has experience handling this kind of challenge. Good luck....I suspect you'll need it.
  13. Excellent analytical work, and write-ups, Jim. I can remember when I was thin enough to get under the pilot foot well to check things out. Those days have passed. Have a safe trip and see you and your beautiful bride in a couple of weeks.
  14. Hey Griff....try to make it to Fernandina Beach (KFHB) this weekend.
  15. From PC illiterate David: Our last event was very pleasant. The weather was reasonable, Ruth and I were in and out of the tops of a fairly thin layer at 3,000 feet going, and VFR returning. We had 7 Mooneys and 1 Bonanza bring 18 people together for a nice lunch. Our next event will be this Saturday, May 12, at Fernandina Beach (FHB). There is no restaurant on the airport, but member David Ansley has arranged for two vans to drive us from the FBO (Bent Wings) to and from a local Restaurant (Brett’s Waterway Cafe). The FBO is new and very excited about our coming, and I am printing info about them below.Because of the need to co-ordinate transportation to and from the airport, please be sure to tell me by Thursday night if you are coming if at all possible, and try not to arrive after 12 PM. We will be able to handle late arrivals if we know you are coming, but it would help if you are on time…………. Also, the FBO would like a list of N numbers, so please let me know your N number when you notify me you are coming. I believe the FBO is discounting it’s fuel $.25 a gallon and is arranging an information sheet on the area for us.All events start at 11:30.Please check your e-mail before attending as sometimes I make last minute changes for various reasons.Future ScheduleMay 12, Fernandina Beach (FHB) One of our members who lives in the area has arranged for us to eat at the Brett's Waterway Cafe and is also arranging transportation to and from the restaurant.June 9, Sebring (SEF).July 14, Williston (X60)August 11, Lake Wales (X07)I really appreciate it if you can e-mail me by Thursday night of the week of the event and let me know if you are going to try to make it, so I can call the restaurant on Friday with a head count. No one is obligated to come if they told me they are coming and can’t make it for mechanical, weather, health, or any other reason.Hope to see you soon,Dave and RuthHi David,Please see the attached informational sheet we put together for your pilots. We have waived all ramp fees and included a fuel discount in this flyer for all Money Top offs that day.My line supervisor has a plan to park your entire group together on our ramp in front of our FBO office. Your group can expect to be marshaled into a parking spot when you arrive. If you have a chance before the event, please send me a list of tail numbers that plan to attend. We look forward to welcoming your group to Amelia Island! Please let us know if we can further assist your group.Best regards,Brian Echard
  16. Bill is an original, in many ways. There must be a good story behind the overrun. I've landed at T94. Clearly a character builder, and not for the faint of heart.
  17. All's well that ends well Do fly the snot out of her!
  18. Just in from David: Sorry about the late reminder, but things have been crazy around our house. Our last event at Fort Pierce was very well attended. We had 16 Mooneys and 1 Bonanza bring 33 people together for lunch. The ramp was crowded, but the food was good. Our next event will be this Saturday, April 14, at The Lost Lagoon at the New Smyrna Beach Airport (EVB) at 11:30.All events start at 11:30.Please check your e-mail before attending as sometimes I make last minute changes for various reasons.Future ScheduleApril 14, New Smyrna Beach (EVB) at the Lost LagoonMay 12, Fernandina Beach (FHB) One of our members who lives in the area has arranged for us to eat at the Brett's Waterway Cafe and is also arranging transportation to and from the restaurant.June 9, Sebring (SEF).July 14, Williston (X60)I really appreciate it if you can e-mail me by Thursday night of the week of the event and let me know if you are going to try to make it, so I can call the restaurant on Friday with a head count. 19. Phil is going to get a laugh out of that question. Even in his 60's, he's quite active, thank-you!
  20. For the record, Jim's wonderful wife is much smarter than he is! No PPI - No sale. Period
  21. Thinking about it, I was all over 94MR in early 1994 when I was picking up my new J at the factory. The Ovation was an unknown quantity back then, and 94MR had a 'cute' paint job, noting that all factory paint back then was marginal, at best. She looks much better now!
  22. Complex and beautiful paint job! Wing walk may adhere to paint...but not for long, based on experience. Better to use wing walk 'paper' roll instead of 'slush'
