  1. Ray, It looks like my F came out of the factory not long before yours. Rest assured, the J-bar slamming to the floor probably made a lot of noise but you didn't damage any switches/sensors. As Rich said above, the gear indicator/warning switch is located in the downlock block under the instrument panel. When the gear is unlocked/up, you can stick you finger under there and feel the little flapper. When the gear is anything but down and locked, you should have a red "unlock" light and the horn will be triggered by the throttle position. When the gear is down and locked, the green light will illuminate and, if you still have the ram air "Power Boost" open, the little amber light next to that control will light up, reminding you to close the ram air door. Many years ago, I had a situation where the gear appeared down and the green light was on but, as soon as I pulled the throttle to idle, the horn went off. I tugged on the J-bar and it came unlocked. Apparently, the gear was down just enough to trigger the light but not fully locked in place. Consequently, I always give the J-bar a little tug on short final just in case. Tom
  2. The new shafts were $1,275 each. I did both sides because because doing so terminates the AD and the 500-hour inspection is no longer required.
  3. Take it from someone who knows, don't take AD 77-17-04 lightly. I was about 450 hours since the last dye check and I felt the yoke shift when I rotated for departure. I had good control of the airplane so I continued the flight but, when I flared for landing at my destination, the control wheel came off in my hand! I was able to grab the co-pilot yoke and land "side stick" but it definitley got my attention. When I got to the hangar, I found that about 1/2 inch of the end of the shaft had complete sheared off. Fortunately, Mooney is still making parts and I was able to get the beefier replacement shafts specified in SB M20-205B in about three weeks. As long as everything was apart, I had Aero Comfort leather wrap the yokes. Expensive, but looks great.
  4. I'm glad that works for you. I like to follow the Before Landing Checklist in the POH and "Mixture Control - FULL RICH" has never been a problem in 29 years with this airplane except for that one flight. I pulled the #1 fuel injector and it was completely plugged up with blue dye residue.
  5. It was on the approach at the end of a three-hour leg of a long trip. It actually started running rough when I pushed the mixture rich with the throttle back. I pulled the mixture back until the engine ran smoothly but it got rough again when I needed a little more power.
  6. I had something similar happen to me. Turned out to be a clogged fuel injector.
