  1. I just got my Aera 760 mounted recently using a MyGoFlight swivel panel mount and adapter. I wish it didn’t stand as proud of the dash as it does, but since it swivels, it makes a great third screen, but I haven’t been able to fly with it yet to figure out what works best there. When I have a copilot, it will probably stay in traffic mode as that seems to be an enjoyable task for people up front.
  2. If it’s truly a path, and not just points that are calculated once, slowing down nearing the FAF, should reduce VS to keep you on the same slope/mile. I was on the same webinar and was hoping for something new, but Mark pretty much rehashed his earlier presentations.
  3. I was dead set on getting this done as soon as I got the plane home but having never flown behind a plain 750, I’m still amazed with how great it is. I can only imagine the Xi is even better. Maybe once I get over the initial assault on my wallet, I’ll look into it again.
  4. I’ve never seen an AvPro analysis. How many elements do they report on? Are any important ones left out?
  5. Can you elaborate on why they’re better and worth the extra $20?
  6. At Sun-n-Fun, AvLab was offering 2 pre-paid oil analysis kits for $30. Now that Blackstone is $35 each, I’m tempted. Thoughts?
  7. This is all true, but there is some luxury in having the analog fuel gauges front and center, in your line of sight, and an illuminating warning in your peripheral vision. With my 900 down and low, the information must be intentionally retrieved because it is out of sight otherwise. And, the display is much smaller too.
  8. Since you’re prompted for REFUEL? at every power up, testing for a mismatch alert will be really easy to do. Now I’m curious what it will do when I tell it the tanks are full but the gauges say otherwise, and vice versa.
  9. You’ve probably figured this out by now, but here is a picture of the top of the shunt in the vertical position behind the CB panel from an 88 J.
  10. Latest quote from Hawk is $23.5k for our planes. That was as of a month or so ago.
  11. USB-A is the ubiquitous de facto standard baseline USB jack and will still be around when USB-C becomes deprecated like all those that came before. The installed base is huge and it is by far, the sturdiest and most damage tolerant of them all. Yes, there are more modern designs, but USB-A is a beast that must be reckoned with.
  12. Here’s the best I could do for you.
  13. I would ask them how many of each they have done so your plane doesn’t wind up being a Guinea pig they’re learning on.
  14. If your temp probe is under the belly, it’s sitting in engine exhaust air and probably reads 4 or 5 degrees higher. That will push your TAS up. Mine has a belly mounted temp probe and reads happy TAS also.
  15. I think there should be an easy way to test the RAL. It shows it to be a 5 volt led, so USB power should be a perfect test for both polarities. I spoke to one of their techs yesterday and when I explained the self test that is explained in the manual, he sounded quite surprised. I asked why the surprise and he said he hasn’t been there very long. A related issue I’ve got is no RED alarm with Low Oil Pressure. This is #1 on the alarm list and should be a red alert at low idle. I get yellow, no red. I’m hoping to get that call back today.
  16. I was searching awhile back and got nothing but crickets.
  17. I’m sure you’ve gotten this resolved by now, but I have a RAL that doesn’t self test red and yellow as stated in the manual and showed no alert when I had my recent over voltage and alternator drop out without the RAL lighting up red or yellow. Just wondering what your outcome was.
  18. I have no vacuum pump. But I still have RAM AIR
  19. I had the glare shield off my J today and see that 4 wires were cut off at the back. Also, 4 light bulbs were pulled out and electrical tape was placed across the alerts. Gone are low Left Fuel, Low Right Fuel, Hi/Lo volts and lo vacuum. All I have left is Gear Down, Gear Unsafe, Start Charge On (the one that won’t light up during testing, and Ram Air On.
  20. Adding another post on this thread. Another Electrodelta VR802 heading to Texas for repair. Quoted price is $395.
  21. The only thing that will get hurt is your wallet. Pour away!
  22. There’s always more than one way to skin a cat. Good job!
  23. I’m looking at them too and look forward to your review.
  24. I don’t think I understand. No modification necessary to the spring. It just snakes over the curved end.
  25. All done. 0.055 piano wire and springs.
