  1. Look at the satellite signal strength. The “D” on there means “differential” or corrected signal. That is a dead giveaway that you have a WAAS receiver.
  2. Doesn’t modern automotive oil react negatively with leaded fuel combustion? I thought I read that somewhere that is why we don’t run PAOs and ester based synthetics in airplanes.
  3. My mistake in explanation. As we say in the instructor world…words have meanings! I was referring to 1.0 spec, or 100% of what the engine was supposed to make. In the 60, we could accept a minimum ETF OF .85 (85% of spec), or a minimum ATF (average of the two engines) of .90. I agree that there is nothing similar in the world of airplanes that I’ve seen, other than compressions, which can be misleading.
  4. The ETF system on the GE700 engines is very nice. I’ve been flying the Airbus EC145 for a few years now in and for the Army, and we have no HIT numbers for it. It either passes it’s 100 hour power check, or it doesn’t. You have no idea was percentage of a baseline engine you are flying with. -former CW4 H60 SP/IE and EC45 FCP
  5. In the Army, we called the cavalier helicopter pilot types “Airshow Dan(s)”.
  6. I’m very respectful of this machine. I came from a Comanche 250 with a fresh mill and a Black Mac prop that leaped off the runway. The J model doesn’t like to do that, and I could only imagine the underwear shitstains that would persist if it was HHH (high, hot, heavy). RIP to our fellow flyer and his passengers.
  7. Link To Kathryn’s Report After reading the report, I have a hard time believing it was a normal, stabilized approach. I come to this conclusion based upon fact that the top of the right wing was penetrated by the landing gear. Ring another one up toward nosebleed insurance premiums.
  8. Another vote for the Aero-Lites Sunsetter G2 here. I put them in the Comanche when they first came out and was VERY impressed. If you search for them on YouTube, I made a video review. I need to get a PAR46 for the 201 and am leaning toward the Whalen Pro.
  9. My I flew with my buddy down to Fallbrook last year, and he barely got his Grumman AA1 stoped before the end of the runway. Scared the daylights out of me!
  10. That is a new camshaft preflight inspection access point.
  11. Ah! Now I see that was a two-year old post! Oops! BTW, how do you come up with the national map with the states visited in color that everybody has on their signatures?
  12. This is my first post. I just agreed to become a partner on an M20J last night and I'm stoked! Just to chime in on DXB's post: That is more than likely a scammer, the grammar is a dead giveaway. "he has a for sale" ALWAYS be suspicious! I could be wrong, but I'd be very wary. Cheers, -Andy
