  1. The file I have for original manual doesn't include them either. But I have M20K revision B that may have what you're looking for. (EDIT: The file is incorrectly labeled "1994"...what I meant was 2014 revision. and it actually attached the entire manual as well if you need it.) Otherwise, maybe Mooney could send you the blow-up fiche that you're looking for. Marc. m20k service manual 2014 rev.pdf schematics_M20Krevision1994.pdf
  2. According to the FAA Instrument Flying Handbook, "The circling minimums published on the instrument approach chart provide a minimum of 300 feet of obstacle clearance in the circling area. [Figure 10-12] During a circling approach, the pilot should maintain visual contact with the runway of intended landing and fly no lower than the circling minimums until positioned to make a final descent for a landing. It is important to remember that circling minimums are only minimums. If the ceiling allows it, fly at an altitude that more nearly approximates VFR traffic pattern altitude. This makes any maneuvering safer and brings the view of the landing runway into a more normal perspective." https://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/handbooks_manuals/aviation/media/FAA-H-8083-15B.pdf We have several VOR approaches up here in Northern CO that I'd train with working on my instrument rating that mostly come in at an oblique angle to the airport not lined up with anything in particular. The hardest part was avoiding VFR traffic as we "meshed" with the pattern. For me personally, turning a circling approach into an approach to a VISUAL traffic pattern flown at TPA in visual flight conditions makes WAY more sense safety wise. Marc.
  3. https://www.advancedpilot.com/articles.php?action=article&articleid=1844 came across this last night looking at APS. As @201er mentioned, Deakin suggests leaning enough that it would stumble if you forgot to enrichen on takeoff roll.
  4. For those that have handhelds that have navigation capabilities @McMooney@Oscar Avalle@hammdo...have you ever tried it out and how easy does it work (or not)? In reading about it when I got mine, I decided that it sounded interesting but not sure how useful it would be in a radio. But I don't know anyone who has one that I could see for myself. Marc.
  5. I have a Yaesu FTA550 and it's worked well. Haven't used it in the aircraft, but its nice for the hangar and always stays in my flight bag along with the 2 prong headset adapter that came with the radio. I have another Yaesu dual band VHF/UHF radio for my truck and a dual band handheld that I used when I worked with SAR. Haven't really had any issues with any of them and they've all be durable/solid radios. Marc KD0KPV
  6. Today's flight was an instrument checkride!! No picture, but huge thanks for the help @PilotX and @gsxrpilot for continuing on the path I started with @donkaye! One step along the journey with this awesome traveling machine!! Off in the distance do I potentially see some Mooney Caravan time??? (yes please!) Thank you for all the help and instruction guys!!! I couldn't have done it without you! Marc.
  7. I would email Mooney at support@mooney.com. If you give them your manual number they probably can send you a pdf of the generic manual. Of course it wouldn’t be specific to your Mooney but someone else’s pages wouldn’t be either. I did the same and they were able to help with some basic info I needed. marc.
  8. To be clear though. This was just the cost of empty leather binder and does not include POH. But I did reach out to Mooney and they were very helpful to send some of the supplemental info I didn’t have and sent me a generic PDF copy of my model POH.
  9. For those patiently waiting. POH-LEATHER BINDER just over 0.2 AMU. also Mooney can send you a pdf copy of a generic POH but you have to order from a MSC for an actual POH for your specific aircraft. Not sure the cost of that. But the difference is really in the weight and balance section and the supplements. It’s easy to print replacement pages if you just need the general pages. Ie a specific page torn out or missing.
  10. Going through my POH and realized I didn't have several components of AFMS/Supplements in the POH. I reached out to the avionics installer (Thanks for the help Rick McKewon at J&R) and he sent me AFMS/STC for the avionics they installed. But I still didn't have supplements for things like autopilot, speed brakes, oxygen system... Just wondering what most standard Mooneys came with in the POH... and wondering what exactly I SHOULD have in the POH/supplements or AFMS binder... I attached the files that I found online. Oxygen_AFMS.pdf King 150 AP AFMS.pdf GTX330_AFMS.pdf GTN750_AFMS_STC.pdf GTN650_AFMS_STC.pdf G500_AFMS.pdf PreciseFlightSBS_AFMS.pdf
  11. Just to add another M20K variation...97 Encore POH recommends 1700 RPM for run-up. Marc.
  12. Thought I'd share this if others were interested. Just learned that Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) puts out an airport directory for the state and offers copies for free as well as electronic copy downloaded from their website. This has great information regarding flight training practice areas, mountain flying information, information regarding many of the mountain passes and local airport info. I'd definitely check it out for anyone flying into CO. https://www.codot.gov/programs/aeronautics Marc. CDOT Airport Directory.pdf
  13. When I read this my brain interpreted barn + pandemonium! Sounds like a Mooney rave! Ha ha. Sounds like a fun adventure regardless!
  14. Just wondering if any of you knew the history of the rear seat hinge change from the 252 to the Encore rear seat. Seems that with the 252 the Seat Cover Panel was hard mounted but actually covered the entire seat well. On my Encore the seat cover panel hinge has three "slots" that you can slide the hinge mechanism into (not sure why you'd need 3 or if this assists reclining?), but the Seat Cover Panel does NOT cover the seat well and leaves about 3" of a slot exposed. Long fore slot used for rear seat back, shorter most aft slot used to keep seat panel flush when seat removed...But why 3 slots and why not completely covered seat well? Am I missing something? The weights I got for the seats removed were: 18.6 lbs total, average of 9.3 lbs/seat. This did not include the Seat Cover Panels left in the aircraft. (3.46 lbs bottom A, 3.52 lbs bottom B, 5.79 lbs seat back A, 5.83 lbs seat back Marc.
  15. Old thread updated for those who use search function...info from Mooney regarding POH binder replacement. Thanks for the inquiry – The Older “Blue” Binders with Gold silkscreen are no long used – Currently we use 2 types 1 is a Clear Vue Binders from an office supply store (Quill P/N 901-585857) The other is a Leather Binder with an embossed Mooney Logo, the part number is POH-LEATHER BINDER and can be priced and purchased through our Authorized Mooney Service Centers.
  16. Late entry with info from Mooney: "Thanks for the inquiry – The Older “Blue” Binders with Gold silkscreen are no long used – Currently we use 2 types 1 is a Clear Vue Binders from an office supply store (Quill P/N 901-585857) The other is a Leather Binder with an embossed Mooney Logo, the part number is POH-LEATHER BINDER and can be priced and purchased through our Authorized Mooney Service Centers." ...in case anyone is looking for a proper size/pn to order online sight unseen.
  17. Just curious…is there a book out there or a website showing all the factory paint schemes for the Mooneys through the years? It would be interesting to see what colors and schemes Mooney offered. marc.
  18. My first thought was the compass. There's a flip up window on the top of my compass housing where you put a lightbulb that can easily get flipped up and the spring eject the bulb. I've had to replace mine before...GE 327 28 V, but I think the 330 is the 14V equivalent. Marc.
  19. Does anyone have a recommendation for CFII in Northern CO? I'm working with G500, GTN750/650, with KFC 150. I'll be taking Instrument written exam early August and the instructor that I worked with in the past for BFR is pretty packed for August (out 4-6 wks)... I'm based out of Greeley (KGXY). Also, any thoughts on better option for training/retention: instruction scheduled routinely throughout a period of time (i.e. over 4-6 wks) vs. try to make a block of time and do it all accelerated (i.e. over a week)? Thanks for the info! Marc.
  20. @midlifeflyer I’m actually having breakfast at Barnstormers as I type. Greeley is Greeley. Feed lot just east of the airport. As my dad always said, “Smells like money.” Ha ha @carusoam I figured (maybe incorrectly) that airport identifier would be more specific than looking for a hangar near Fort Collins. Too bad 3V5 Fort Collins Airpark isn’t still open! Listing edited to clarify. marc.
  21. Does anyone have information regarding how EI magnetic fuel senders compare to CiES? Looking for comparison with accuracy, durability/longevity, and install issues/costs. I can’t seem to find much regarding EI. thanks, marc.
  22. Currently hangared at GXY (in Greeley) but would like to eventually get to FNL (Fort Collins/Loveland) long term (much closer to house). If any of you have leads on an open hangar please let me know. Currently they only have openings for $500K commercial condo hangars being built and the T-hangar wait list looks to be closed for some time. (MODS: if this forum was only for listing hangars for sale, feel free to delete) Thanks, Marc.
  23. So this happened today! Working with @donkayefor instruction and some great help from @gsxrpilot to make sure this was a good Mooney for me. Can’t wait to get her back to Colorado and start some amazing adventures. Strike that…the adventure started months ago and hit warp speed over the past week. Thanks for all the indirect help Mooneyspace has been feeding me for the past 4 months. Looking forward to jumping in with both feet into one of my favorite planes! marc.
  24. New member. Just got back into flying after an eight year hiatus. Trying to convince some friends to join me on a plane, but secretly making plans to find a Mooney of my own! MS is a great repository of info! Kudos to all the great minds contributing. Soakin it in and building a road map! marc.
