  1. Thanks for the discussion Gents! All posters bring enormous insight to those new to Mooney's! BZ!!
  2. MFNG wannabe In search of a 2000 or newer FIKI Bravo, or older Acclaim. came across the ‘07 Acclaim in Gulfport, has both fiki & ac…must be very heavy! Could there be a double win in removing the horribly misplaced b/u gauges and also clawing back a few pounds? Perhaps replace what seems to be a tertiary b/u set with something like a Dynon D3 if they are not required equipment? &, yes, saw post discussing the human factors fail, along with the pic of the bird with the m/c Sam all in one on left side…but that thing is wayyy pricey at almost $9K’ish. TIA!
  3. Those with seat time in both models (K's & short panel LB's): vertically challenged (5'7") MFNG wannabe requests comparison on panel height?? TIA, ALJM
  4. Thanks all for your thoughts, history lessons & opinions! Happy holidays!
  5. FNG in the hunt for a Bravo (or Ovation) for a while now. At 5'7" I'd really prefer a newer model with the lower panel height. Given the current scarcity in the market, wondering if it's possible to reduce or install a reduced height instrument panel? If so, new from Mooney or fab'd elsewhere while updating avionics?
  6. Gents, just noticed on Lasar's site that they offer their one piece smooth bottom for long bodies. Did Bravos not come with the single piece bottom from original build in KERV? If not, thoughts on whether or not it's worthwhile and does it live up to billiing, ie...speed bump if burying some antennas?
  7. Definitely makes sense...an actual GPS with charts for less than the cost to move a piece of legacy gear...long live the Aera760!!
  8. Good insights! Will confirm it is a 200 vice the older MX20.
  9. The prospective Bravo could be the forever plane if I can add some UL and efficiency to it...hence the "frugal" plan. But hearing loud & clear that the labor cost to move the 200 is better spent on the permanent solution!!
  10. Copy all, I suspect the labor to move it over would be better spent on installing the long term solution...
  11. @PilotX, your panel upgrade was the example leading to the idea… The bird in question already has a 200 mfd, & clearly there is room to spare! @LANCECASPER, your later sale point well taken, this would be an interim solution before going with a G3X for permanent solution, also riffing on @Mlm20c’s thoughts! Thanks all for the feedback!
  12. Considering a plan to upgrade a panel from standard 6 pack to affordable glass, post purchase on a Bravo. Usual reasons: modernize and lose some weight. The plane has standard 6 (really 8) pack on left side along with new engine monitor. Also a GMX-200 MFD mounted on the right side of the center avionics stack. Brainstorm: do a pair of new GI-275's and move the GMX-200 over to the left side, next to the 275 stack to have a "poor man's" glass panel. Thoughts?? TIA!
  13. Aspiring Mooniac seeking a chance to experience the ergonomics of a Mooney, even better would be a ride/spin around the pattern so I can see if the airframe and flight characteristics are a good match for me. Gas & drinks afterwards would be my pleasure!
  14. Thanks, anybody else providing better tankage to the Mooney world? Not to mention the amount of unusable fuel the Bravo (& other models?) seem to carry?
  15. Seller also confirmed 89 usable for fuel, so not very long legs! Is Monroy still doing new LR tanks, & for how many AMU's?
  16. Xavier, can you share current useful load and size of the fuel tanks? TIA!
  17. Same issues on insurance...ES-P from SLC bounced it's sale a couple of times due to no takers on insurance...
  18. Seems like insuring a high performance experimental has become either cost prohibitive or impossible for most people as the insurance market has hardened!
  19. Oh I'm all about a LIVP if I could get it & me insured! But meanwhile we have to live in reality so Mooney's & Columbia/Cessna's are top of the doable list. The big 6 cylinder engines don't seem to add as many knots as they do GPH, hence the M20K's being the logical choice from both an acquisition & operating cost perspective.
  20. Aspiring Mooniac here...retired navy pilot looking for fast, economical, & reasonably long range business & personal transportation. Thinking that an M20K would be definitely on the short list. Seeing a few for sale that have the single piece belly skin and most of the speed mods...gap seals, wing root filets, etc... Can anyone comment on how many knots are a reasonable expectation with "compound" mods? Next, are the Mooniacs tracking on or in talks with Deltahawk on future use of their 2stroke turbo-diesels as possible replacements for the older GB's & LB's...when if finally comes out? TIA, Leon
