  1. Do you have a photo of your panel you'd be willing to share?
  2. Thanks! I was actually just reading your thread a moment ago. Sounds like G has worked out most of the user interface issues that plagued the original instance of the GI275 EIS. Currently leaning towards this option as I do like the idea of having all 3 GI275s in the panel. Aesthetically they are very nice units. New tech + capabilities with an older look and feel.
  3. Currently looking to install a new engine monitor. Trying to decide whether to go with GI275 or JPI EDM 900. I want the gi275 as Ive currently got dual gi275s already and love that they sit behind/within the panel as opposed to on top. The only thing Ive heard for a negative pertaining to the gi275 is that the info isnt as easily accessible as it is on the EDM 900. Supposedly you have to scroll through some pages to get to certain info. The static images on Garmin look like the display is pretty complete but maybe thats just some photoshop trickery on G's part. Any insight or user experience/feedback on either model would be greatly appreciated. Best, TR
  4. I'm based at KSMO and have a Mooney + know some experts in the area. Feel free to message me direct.
  5. Good evening all, I’m heading to CR 12/24/22-1/8/23 and am curious if anyone here knows of any rental ops down there. I’ll be in tamarindo and would be very interested in seeing the lay of the land from the left seat. Any insight would be appreciated. Any general tips of places to see/things to do are welcome as well. Never been to CR. best, TR n201xq
  6. Thank you! I managed to find 2 aa48103-2 series filters. Thank you all for the help!
  7. I just completed my first transcon. from KSMO to KOWD and am looking to do an oil change before I head back to LA. I'm searching for oil filters (48103-1 or aa48103-2) but everything is on back order. Does anyone know where one can be found? I'm trying to head west 10/24 but I also want to fly while I'm here in New England. My current oil has about 18 hours on it and I need to change around 25h. I'm doing the 25h intercal as I just got a new engine so this is the break in oil. I broke the engine in, changed oil after 7 hours, and have now put 18 hours on this current oil and filter. 25 total on the new engine but only 18 on the oil/oil filter. Anyways, if anyone has a lead on where to find a filter or would be willing to part ways with one, I would be very appreciative and would compensate accordingly. All the best, TR
  8. Thank you all for the insight here. I love this community. First and foremost, weather will certainly be the determining factor. I do have a few days of buffer built into my trip as well as a place to stay should the winds not allow for a safe departure from Leadville. It will just be myself and one passenger/copilot so we will be flying pretty light. All in all it looks like this is seemingly very feasible. I'm looking forward to it. Thanks again for all of the feedback. -TR N201XQ
  9. Hello, Planning an intercontinental flight from Los Angeles to Boston. Would like to hit Leadville on the way. Flying a 1978 m20j. Id be getting to leadville Oct 5th in the late morning early afternoon. Just wondering if anyone has any tips/recs for getting in and (more importantly) out of there. Speeds to look for by midfield? Things like that. I’ve checked the performance charts and all seems feasible as long as weather is good. On that note the temps look to be in the mid 50’s low 60’s around this time of year there. Winds in the AM are seeming quite manageable. Overall it seems like a feasible stop but I’d like to hear what experiences other Mooney owners have had out that way.
  10. How hard was this? I have the exact same issue in my ‘78 J. The light just died this past week and it’s pretty unnerving not being able to do the gear down confirmation.
  11. SN: 24-0501 I’ve been upgrading in phases as well. Phase 1 was the gnx375, new audio panel, GI106b, and that gtr225 that I just replaced. Phase 2 is this current setup. Phase 3 is the gfc500. That will be in a year or so. I’ll post some user feedback here soon as well. I’m looking forward to getting in the seat this weekend. The hangar is actually NM Aero Service Where the plane is currently undergoing its annual. Hangars are near impossible to find at my home base of KSMO.
  12. Air One Systems at Double Eagle, NM. They’re fantastic. Also no sales tax in NM.
  13. After 4 Months (Covid Delays and parts backlog) - N201XQ panel upgrade is complete and is in for annual. Expected pick up date 10/30. I see lots of people wondering whats entailed in integrating dual Gi275's on here so I added the complete parts list in the photos. Details in images below but brief summary: - remove vac system - install dual Gi275s - replace GTR225 w/GNC255A Cant wait to get back in the left seat. Comments/feedback welcomed and appreciated. Looking forward to learning the new functions within the 275's talking to the GNX375. N201XQ First Flight Post Gi275 Upgrades.mp4
  14. Congrats on the new bird! I own N201XQ out in SoCal and I met the owner of N201XG. Hope to cross paths with you some day. Enjoy that machine. Its a great one!
  15. Thanks, David. They're configuring everything today and then doing the weight and balance addendum. I saw someone on here had a line that says "the longer I have my plane, the newer it gets." That line is resonating with me at the moment seeing all these modern devices in this middle aged plane.
  16. I dropped it off while on a month long trip back to Boston. It was just convenient for me at that time. They had told me they were in the midst of a few other projects but would start mine within a few weeks. The parts delay was out of their hands as was the employee issues. Was it annoying? Absolutely. Do I wish it was faster. 100% Would I want to harass them to get it done quick and risk some potential errors on the install? Absolutely not. It tried my patience but I know that the end result will be top notch. Im just thankful they're working. These guys actually we're working on the Virgin Galactic space ship and mother ship as well. They're an A+ shop without a doubt. It's just a trying time in their industry as well as many others.
  17. Yup. It was certainly frustrating. Hopefully your install is done now and you can enjoy some of that amazing fall foliage from the sky up in New England. Im originally from Boston, have a house on Wentworth in Wolfeboro, and spent 6 years (college & work) in Burlington, VT. I miss it out there.
  18. It is indeed a GNX375. They are in fact all talking to each other now as well as the Century AP! I'm very excited to get it back and work on my instrument rating. By the looks of it you've got a very similar setup! Im also a bit nervous as to the learning curve with all of these new functions but I figure ill just hook up and external battery at my tie down and play around with it all for an hour or two in order to familiarize myself with it all. Any tips are appreciated!
  19. Yup. You hit the nail on the head there. Between the parts back ups and some staffing issues at the shop it has taken (much) longer than expected. My annual has lapsed as well so its going in for that at end of week and then it'll be good to go.
  20. Project: Dual gi-275 install + GNC255 install Its not complete yet but it’s the first time I’ve seen the panel since I dropped it off June 9th. It’s not a full glass panel but I’m pretty excited about it. Any feedback is welcomed.
  21. Congrats! Are you talking a 2 hour drive from jackson hole or a 2 hour flight? Im thinking of moving to Wyoming within the next year or two and proximity to Jackson hole is a key factor as to where I end up there.
  22. Context: I live & fly in SoCal. Ive got tinted windows on my ground vehicles and they help preserve the dash, maintain cooler temperatures inside, protect the skin from too much sun exposure and the potentially harmful side effects of that, and tints also provide a bit of privacy. I was wondering if its common practice to do the same on aircraft windows? If so, is there a special tint given that the windows are not glass? If there isnt anything special to it or inherently dangerous about it I'd consider tinting all four side windows, leaving the windscreen as is. I love being up there but if I could limit the amount of sun coming in I would certainly be interested in doing so. If this is common and anyone knows of any SoCal based businesses that provide this service please share. Back in my teenage years I tried my hand at tinting some of my trucks and it came out less than perfect. I don't want any bubbling on there. Sorry if this has been discussed before and I didn't search the old threads.
