  1. I have seen silicone swim caps used to repair these servos...not as pretty but worked.
  2. I have seed one of those vacuum servos repaired by using a silicone swim cap....just a heads up if you are waiting for replacement rubber boot.
  3. I thought the Merlyn was supposed to ease 'bootstrapping' it is very difficult to restrain the surge in MP with new Merlyn and intercooler. The old engine with stock fixed wastegate and no intercooler was a breeze to set at take off power. Any ideas? Vernier throttle cable? Thanks and sorry if you saw this before, seems it got deleted.

One adavantage of most 231's over the 252 is payload, the 231 has a bigger payload since it is lighter ( except for the Encore ) and I flew mine for years in the teens without an intercooler or a merlyn no problems flew fine and never ran out of throttle. You just need to baby it a bit, engine monitor required! I don't think many GB powerplants left out there and yes they only return an LB at rebuild. I think the new Continental LB engines have a 2000 hour TBO from the factory now as well. 252 yes easier to manage engine, bit quieter, better interior and more.   7. Thanks for the info on your Intercooler install, much appreciated, trying to get to the pictures on the google drive, FYI Jeff Shapiro also called me and confirmed what I thought needed to be trimmed, like you said.  And no the bracket wouldnt fit on my heater box either.

  8. Zeftronics is the way to go, I have both old school and the Zeftronics and I swap them to check my alternator. ( had loads of alternator probs) another suggestion: get an engine analyzer like a JPI unit.
  9. Just purchased a turbo plus intercooler kit and was wondering if anyone has installed one before, any hints or tips tricks a little nervous about cutting the Cowl but seems straightforward on that. Also filling out the pre-install flight data sheet.
