  1. Yes, I have led a sheltered life. snails = turbos Thanks all for the lesson.
  2. hmmmm. I know what intercoolers are but, the pair of snails has me guessing. 2. . . . . "a pair of snails" and intercoolers Regards,
  3. Any chance of someone adding the alpha model number to the names in the post above? What is a TN, U, V, etc. If I wanted to talk about the most modern, high-flying, Mooney would it be the Acclaim Ultra, or is the Type S a different model? Sorry, just a little slow on the uptake.
  4. Thanks for taking the time and researching the numbers to keep this history alive. Our grandchildren will hold you in high regard, for sure.
  5. and why are the counter balance weights in the tail called "Charlie" weights?
  6. In an early Ovation? Anyone remember the factory option price for Air Conditioning? Thanks
  7. Oh boy. I just came across an article about the first Ovation Ultra, (2017) a non-turbo with a left carbon fiber pilot door. I didn’t see a Model number.
  8. Was the Ovation3 the last, or most recent, non—turbo model? Was there an Acclaim before the Ultra, then the Type S? All Acclaims are Turbo models? Thanks.
  9. Not super detailed but engine hp, turbo or no turbo, cruise speeds, flow rates, @ what altitude, special prop or not. I tried searching but, got lost among the Acclaim, then Ultra, then Type S, TN. Maybe start with the Ovation2 vs 3 differences then . . . I figure no one knows more than you guys. Thanks.
  10. The estimated 2 inches is close, the actual difference in the two panel heights is 1.7 inches. Seems like the consensus on the date of the lowered panel is sometime between 2003 and 2005. Someone probably knows the last serial number for the original “full height” panel. So based on the recent posts here, the 29-0001 M20R had the “full height” panel and all the newer units until some date between 2003 and 2005 when the panel was lowered 1.7 inches.
  11. Do any of you old timers know if and when (for sure) the Instrument Panel was raised or made higher (taller) I have a 1999 Ovation and the history books say this is the first year for the Moritz gauges, some say year 2000 was the first, but they are for sure in the this 1999. I read someplace the panel was raised 1.7 inches and most folks seem to think it was to accommodate the Moritz panel. I'm not sure about that, just read it someplace. I think someone with a 1998 Ovation would be in the best position to actually check it out, or maybe just post a good straight on photo of the panel showing the yoke and the top of the panel. We could then check other fixed instruments so compare. Thanks. Ray
