  1. If my yaw damper failed today, I'd be making arrangements to have it fixed immediately. It's wonderful.
  2. So is yaw damper.....regardless of what those who don't have it say.
  3. That's a pretty good summary. Basically it's a cheap VFR system.
  4. And a jack...1"pipe...pliers...adjustable wrench...2 ratchets w/extensions and 7/16 sockets...valve core removal tool...bead breaker...tire talc...and a way to air it up.
  5. Here's the other issue.....finding a tube and or tire that's available. Most don't warehouse that kind of stuff, but you might get lucky....hopefully. The last one I changed was back ordered for a while.
  6. Like kpaul... mine was also installed by Garmin....and tested and certified by Garmin. As per Garmin representatives, YD after takeoff during climb was normal OP. Each to their own, but mine works flawlessly.
  7. I roll down the runway...rotate...raise the gear...raise flaps...push YD...drive the bus.
  8. I have an M20E with GFC500....trim and yaw. If the yaw malfunctioned today, I'd be on the phone tomorrow to schedule repair.
  9. If these options don't work out, I have a KY 97A com with the tray that isn't being used. If interested, let me know.
  10. The issue with some early models isn't a Garmin issue....as everyone likes to point at the other guy....it's actually a Mooney issue. Mooney actually used 2 different push/pull tube configurations on the early short bodys... pre 64. If you dig deep enough you will see what what the deal is. Garmin had no way of knowing this until they were made aware of the issue. A new part was made to solve the issue and is being tested. They are still leaps and bounds ahead of the other guys...in all catagories.
  11. I also have a cluster gauge out of a '66E if anybody is still in need of one. 250.00
  12. If it's the original prestolite starter, the bendix gets gummed up. Sea Foam makes a lubricant that also cleans....works well. The best solution is to replace it with a sky tech lightweight starter.
  13. Did you find what you were looking for? If not, I'll look...I'm pretty sure I've got one.
  14. If interested... I have two ash trays from my M20E that I would be able part with.
  15. All of this is true, but remember that the originals are likely 40-50 years old. I've repaired mine also and they looked good....for a couple years. Then the 50 year old plastic started doing what 50 year old plastic does. Eventually it's like trying to glue potato chips back together. The plane plastics panels do require trimming, but it's not rocket science and...to me...worth the effort. I'm actually in the middle of replacing the wall panel right now. Will be trimming it today.
  16. I have a 330ES that I would sell....with tray, backplate and ACK encoder.
  17. I find it interesting that most people without yaw damper claim that it's not a good investment and not necessary...etc. I have yaw damper on a short body and personally think it's awesome. If it were to quit working, I would be scheduling repair immediately. It may not be necessary, but neither is autopilot. Same with trim. Why put half of the system in? Before you make a decision, go for a ride with all the options....I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Ive never heard anybody that has electric trim or yaw damper say...."man, I sure wish I hadn't put that in."
  18. Find someone who specializes in that....you'll be glad you did. Some things need to be done by the people that do what they do. Not saying it can't be done, just saying that if you like yourself even a little bit, you wouldn't put yourself through it. Had mine done by Paul at Weep-no-more. Glad I did. Not cheap to have done, but when it's done right, problems are solved. Only my opinion....Good luck.
  19. I have a Stratus 2 with both external antennas that I'd sell. 375$
  20. nebhuskr123....If you pm me an email address, I'll send you a picture of what they did.
