  1. @Niko182I have heard the same thing about the weight savings. Heck, if I can put this thing on more of a diet then I already have and shift the CG more aft to take full advantage of the Max Gross Weight, then I’m all for it. @carusoamI agree with the looks. I saw a Bravo the other day on the ground and it immediately caught my attention. Damn good looking if you ask me. Also, if it ends up being a little quieter, that would be great! This thing is quite noisy. Lastly, I’m hoping that it smooths out the vibration the plane has a bit. Make those long cross countries a little more comfortable. Thanks for the comments so far guys. Keep ‘em coming!
  2. Hey fellow MS’ers, got another few questions for y’all. Just got my overhaul of the TIO-540 done and avionics done in 63W. I am now thinking about ordering a new MT prop for it. The stocker is looking pretty rough and I thought this would be a nice upgrade. Here are my questions: 1. I have seen some good praise of the 4 blade prop for the Bravo. Does anyone have a reason why this wouldn’t be a good upgrade? Maybe some experience or customer service issues? I am definitely getting the nickel leading edges as they seem to be the way to go. 2. I am being quoted just under 20k for the prop, spinner, TKS nozzles and the nickel leading edges. Does this seem to be about right or should I keep shopping around? John at Mcfarlane Aviation is the one I am working with. 3. I am being told since this prop is being ordered, I can pick which color I want for it. I am leaning toward a black prop with the white tips, but am open to seeing what others have done before I make the final decision. Pics would be a plus. I am kinda bummed that they don’t have a polished spinner option as I like that look on this plane. Thanks in advance for the advice/opinions.
  3. I know this is a long shot, but I am reaching out to see if anyone here knows where to get a set of pistons for the TIO-540 AF1B? My Bravo has been down for 6 months waiting on some cylinder work and the shop doing the work just told me (after 6 months of having the cylinders) that the pistons are bad and need to be replaced. I am about to pull all my hair out with this top overhaul and am frantically trying to find some. Lycoming says they are another 2 months from having any. Hoping the MooneySpace community could help out. Thanks.
  4. Guys, I am having a vibration issue in my 1997 TLS Bravo and have been trying to track it down for a few months now. I know, this is like finding a needle in a hay stack, but I thought I would reach out to the infinite wisdom of MooneySpace to see if anyone has any ideas or experience with tracking down a vibration. Here are some details: The vibration feels like it is coming from the front of the airplane, but I could be wrong. When I establish a climb around 120 knots is when the vibration seems to be the worst. This is at 34’’ and 2400RPM with the cowls open. When I level off, gain speed and clean up the cowl flaps it gets better, but is still mostly there for the remainder of the flight. I just installed an EDM 930 and all cylinders are hot and everything seems to be happy with the engine. I have questioned the gear doors and cowl flaps with my mechanics, but they say that they are fine. I will be mounting a go pro under the wings to confirm this or see if anything is discovered on my next flight. Prop has been dynamically balanced recently and the guy that did it says that he got it very close to perfect. Engine mounts have been inspected and the mechanics say that there is plenty of life left in them. There were some loose bolts and other things found in the tail of the airplane. These have been fixed, but have had no improvement on the issue. Let me know if you guys have any ideas or experience with this. The vibration is driving me nuts and is somewhat keeping me from making any decent trips in the plane. Thanks in advance for the help.
  5. I am not sure who’s panel it is, it is one that I found on the interweb that was just for visual representation. I was just asking to find out if there was anything special that one did over the other. I completely understand knowing an instrument and wanting to keep it once you are comfortable with it. For me, I am looking to do either one as my new Bravo has the stock gauges, which I hate. They are falling apart, lights don’t work in half of them and am having weird readings from some of them. I am planning on doing the G500 NXI as I already have a 750. I like the idea of always having the engine parameters right in line of sight and not having to flip through pages to get to the info. So, I guess for me it would be down to the 930 or the smaller G3x that was dedicated to engine gauges. Anyone have experience with either and would care to share why they like their choice rather than the other, it would be much appreciated. Heres a pic of my Bravo that I am fixing up.
  6. Got a question for you guys with Garmin G500’s or G3x’s. I have seen a couple of photos of very nice looking panels with G500 NXI and G3X, but also have an EDM930 installed. My question is, why go with that instead of the engine monitoring that is incorporated within the G500 or G3X? I am going to be replacing all of my manual gauges soon as some are starting to fall apart, so I am weighing all of my options. Thanks for the replies in advance.
