    Thanks for alll the comments. After reviewing some other forums it appears the filter in my plane is a “51A5 filter” and its use is related to my KFC200 autopilot install. Correction to my previous comment, the filter only supplies the AI, the HSI is electric only. PT20J, you state the 1J7-1 filter is used “according to the IPC” . . . what does IPC stand for and do you know if an STC approval is available for a modification?

    I have a 1978 Mooney M20J with a KFC200 autopilot and HSI. One long filter supplies both the HSI and AI. Neither the Mooney parts book or maintenance manual describe this configuration, so the filter may be the obsolete Rapco filter mentioned in this post. Has anyone found a replacement or authorized modification. I've searched for info, but so far haven't found an answer.
