  1. I would not want to make any disparaging remarks about MT but after visiting their shop in Deland and seeing how the MT props are made and overhauled I no longer want an MT propeller. Yes, an I have had a really bad experience with Hartzell props. One of our pilots flying PA-36-375 using an IO-720 Lycoming engine and had a medium time three bladed Hartzell come apart at the hub because they designed a zert fitting too close to the edge of the hub. When the the blades seprated the hub and tore the engine almost out of the plane and cause weight and balance problems and no control of the plane. At that point the pilot was just along for the ride going straight down though high trees. Luckily the pilot survived with some injuries and the airplane was completely destroyed. The NTSB definitely proved it was Hartzell's poor engineering that caused this accident. The bad thing for me and our company was Hartzell only paid us ten cent on the dollar for our loss. Since then I think Hartzell has been sold twice and yes I am still flying airplanes with Hartzell propellers on them.
  2. The key to any good landing is a stabilized approach. In my Mooney 201 which I have thousands of night and day hours and on many short stripes, always use full flaps. Tire pressure is very important especially carrying heavy loads. The pressure is important to tire ware. I have landed a number of times with low pressure in the nose tire but keeping the nose up with good elevator control stops any bouncing.
  3. Anyone on the forum replaced the standard belly pans to a one piece belly pan on a 201 Mooney. Is it worth the cost and effort?
  4. Propeller Head Aviation was located in Winter Haven, Florida and now has moved to the SE ramp at KSFB Sanford, Florida near Orlando. I have a 78 Mooney 201 and the owner Bill did an excellent job repairing fuel leaks in my Mooney. He is a pilot mechanic and is a very knowledgeable aviation mechanic. He will also install bladders if that is what you want.
