  1. When I was at Bruce Jeagar’s shop, we took some thin rubber material and screwed it to the floor in existing holes. It’s a great simple solution. It’s super low profile and easy to clean. You can cut it to fit.
  2. I too used Bruce and his services for most of my interior. When’s e originally spoke Bruce said that his special kit wasn’t designed for the round window mooneys and I’d need to find another kit if I wanted all new panels, minus window trim. He later called me and told me he was selling the company and wanted to try to make the kit fit my 62c round window. He also wanted to make a 2 piece headliner out of his Keydets panel material as my old headliner was fabric and was toast. He wasn’t sure how it would all one together but assured me it would work just fine. So I took off north. Immediately upon arrival Bruce jumped in the plane as I was shutting down and started knocking on and pulling on old panels. Within an hour we had ripped out every last piece including headliner and it was laying in a pile on the floor. He started fitting the panels as he kept me busy with small odd jobs like painting door jams and fitting baggage door area. Bruce and I did new headliner, interior panels, new door, baggage door, headliner, Johnson bar / nosed wheel area cover, etc. we also redid the window trim pieces. I was there for about a week helping Bruce. Bruce charged only 40 hours even though he had at least 50-55 in the project. My cost was 5500 with Bruce for labor and materials but man it looks sweet. I do agree with the OP above that the paint could be more durable but I picked up extra paint to touch up at annuals down the road. I believe I was the next to last plane Bruce did before he retired and moved to Florida. when got home I home I had a local seat guy cover my seats for me and he did a great job. I have 1300 in the seats with all new foam and leather included. (Found the leather local for an absolute steal) I cut local sourced carpet as well. All items burn certed. I’ll attempt to put images below. My cell is 501-326-2700 as I am rarely on MS these days.
  3. Hello all! Does anyone have any experience with issues with the flap and trim indicator in an early C? Both cables seem to be installed correctly and are fully present. Other than that, I’m not sure what to check. Any tips out there for easy things to check? Both indicators seem to indicate a muchhh lower value than actual value. Both indicators show a level under (lower) than the actual scale. I can take some pictures or videos if that would be helpful. Thanks! JA
  4. You could put the ashtray back and just use it while you smoke inside of your 10 cubic feet cabin! Lmao
  5. Dang those look good. How hard was it to fit the airtex product over the seat?
  6. Unfortunately my 62c seats don’t have that mechanism. My buddy that has a 63 has those type seats which I prefer. mine have a pin that stick out on either side and then this catch that seats on the pin when the chair is sat in. This type of seat has a lever you can pull in the front of the seat to recline the seat back further. The issue is that the pin is missing or broken on the right of the co pilot seat so right now it leans back kind of uneven.
  7. I appreciate the replies. I will certainly inquire about adding some padding to my current seats. My right front seat is missing a small part that allows it to lean back evenly. I might be able to modify it or fix it so that the seat functions the way it was intended to. I’m not dying to needlessly spend a lot of money on replacing the seats so I will look into other options. thanks guys
  8. Hey gang! I am working with Bruce to get a spacial interior set up in the plane. Bruce however doesn’t really do seats so I am looking to recover my seats. While I’m in this process I’m interested in finding an upgraded pair of front seats. My plane is a 62C. I’m wondering if anyone knows what seats will fit in the 62C? Will any of the J seats fit? I’m looking for something with more support and ideally more adjustability. If I can figure out what fits I can search the web and salvage yards for a newer set of seats to recover and refresh. Thoughts? Thanks! JA
  9. I appreciate that. I searched and found several threads that did help but most spoke on power settings and not so much to leaning procedure for the C, specifically. I’ve seen the Key Number rule vary from 46 to 47 but I suppose both will work and 46 would be more conservative. I appreciate the help! thank you for the detailed responses! I’ve got Mike’s book Engines but haven’t gotten to this section yet. I’ll refer to that. Thanks!
  10. Right, I appreciate that. The gauge is supposedly set to be at peak on this aircraft when it was calibrated at OH recently. And to find peak, the best way is to just lean until a stumble is noticed, correct?
  11. 62C - O-360 engine Hey guys. New Mooney owner here with about 30 hours in the bird so far. I’m getting some standard power settings figured out, depending on how far I am traveling. I am working on becoming more exact with my leaning. I currently have an EGT gauge that is nothing special. What I am curious about is the best way to lean this engine? The EGT gauge was set by the IA/AP. This gauge only has one needle and has an asterisk that is supposed to be set to peak. I generally will lean to the asterisk but the engine doesn’t roughen up any at the asterisk. Should I forget the asterisk and just lean until I feel a stumble in the engine, note that setting on the gauge and then richen a few notches on the gauge? I have just been leaning to the asterisk, as taught, but lately I have read about this red box and became concerned that I am operating the engine incorrectly. I ultimately want to get an engine monitor and that will be my next mod but I don’t currently have one. And the concern is above 65% power, right? Can someone help explain the red box and also share their leaning procedure for the C, please? thanks! JA
  12. Has anyone seen or tried the vinyl flooring kits from SCS? They look pretty nice and it seems like it could really clean up the interior and not get as dirty, or at least clean up easier than carpet. JA
  13. Appreciate the advice, sir! Researching that now and will get on the phone with Chase. thank you all for your input and knowledge! JA
  14. Thanks for the help guys! I’ll price the stec 901 adapter and will look into all options.
  15. Thanks for the advice. Any experience with the stec 30? I’m wondering if it will fly RNAV stuff with just the waas upgrade?
  16. Evening, gents. I know I’ll get a lot of thoughts on this so I wanted to put this out there. I believe my profile is updated but in Arkansas, 160 hour total pilot. First plane purchase, love the bird. Fly VFR right now but working on IFR ground school currently. Bought a great little 62C that has a 430 non waas and a stec 30 with alt hold. The com on the 430 is giving us issues and avionics shop suggests that we send it to Garmin to fix for the flat 1500 fee. I’m down with that. But they said they can update to waas and fix the com and install the waas stuff for 5400 installed. I will be working on my IFR soon and like the idea of waas. BUT to be honest I don’t know enough about waas and what real world help it will be. Will the stec 30 fly more approaches with 430 waas navigator than it does with a regular 430? What exactly is GPSS and would I need it for the stec 30 to be able to fly more approaches? I am installing a tail beacon this weekend for adsb. I have a few options; do tail beacon and just fix comm issue on the 430 and then just fly the hell out of her for a while until I figure out what I want to do. Or I could update to waas now while I am it and still do tail beacon. I lean towards doing the simple fixes for now so that I can learn more about what else I want in the panel over the next 12-24 months, and then upgrade to something else in the panel later. I am hesitant to spend 5k on the 430 when I could just spend 7k later and have a much better unit. Or maybe trade it for the Avidyne unit? I am conflicted about what to do and hesitant to drop too much in the panel until I know how long I’ll have this bird and know what type of flying I’ll be doing consistently. thoughts? Can someone help explain the advantage of a 430 waas vs 430 non waas? And finally, what else can the stec 30 do if it has a waas source? Thanks guys! JA
  17. Nice. Where did the side panels come from? And those yokes! I’ve never seen Mooney yokes like that, but I am new around here.
  18. great post, A! Any idea where to find the article about flying the C that you referenced? I googled but only found the article about engine power in the climb. Is that the article you are referring to? - JA
  19. Curious if airtex couldn’t do the 62 seats?
  20. Looks great! Sent you a PM with a few questions.
  21. So the advantage is weight? Or look/function?
  22. I wish I lived closer! Plane is currently in annual or I would consider a trip from Arkansas. If I could get them home in the Mooney, that is. Wonder what the difference is between the 62 and 64 seats? - JA
  23. On this topic, I have an stec 30 AP with alt hold. The turn coordinator which is also the AP interface, is a little wonky. The bars that are inside of the coordinator tube That indicate where the middle of the coordinator are, have moved. They moved to the right about half an inch. It doesn’t mess me up as I can clearly see where the middle of the tube is but would this concern any of you? The AP works great. I am hesitant to take it out and send it in or get it worked on just to move the indicator back to the middle. Would this be an easy fix? Worth the hassle? thoughts? As always, thanks for the help! JA
