Hey @patrickf did you ever get around to the Bravo? I think the landing calculations are the same but the takeoff might be different NA vs. Turbo. Thanks!

@PilotX  I hadn't been near this for a long time. Had a look back at my files. I did make a start on the M but needed to do the performance curves as they are a bit different. I have the POHs. I'll see if I can grab a few hours in the next month and get one out. It will be a good base for all the turbo versions. regards

Because we don't want to have to name another airport (that you were traveling to) after a murdered president. Lived through that time, not fun and it led to even worse times (Vice Presidents are rarely equipped or ready to lead). Bad actors in the world still abound who would love to kill a US President. Price of being the big dog on the porch.

Am aware of the history GeeBee. Was simply relating the difference in treatment, and one of my most memorable flights. Sadly the difference is not as pronounced now.

  3. As an Aussie I've always found it fascinating the level of disruption that US residents wear around the travel habits of their president.
Many years ago (1991) while backpacking in the US we got stuck in traffic heading out to JFK. Our taxi driver explained that the President was heading to the airport and all the roads and cross streets would be shut down for the cavalcade. We were staggered.
A few years later in Nov 1996 as a brand new sub 10 hr pilot I was practicing circuits in Canberra when the controller asked me to do a few orbits over parliament house to give him time to get a VIP away.  I had a birds eye view from 3 miles away. Later when back in the circuit I watched the big black cars loading into the heavy transport planes - C17s I think. Bill Clinton was visiting Australia.
    Different world now.

    Great work!

Is there a way to use pounds rather than kilos?

@hubcap I could rebuild but not worth it - sorry.

I've built them all off the M20R version which was for my use. The newer W&Bs have both on the table. Both the XL sheet and the App do give you the pounds conversion in W&B and use pounds in the performance tabs as that is what is used on the graphs.

I've done similar for the fuel as the rest of the world fills up in liters even though all the guages are in Gal. It's a pretty common calc error - and not the right way if you are short of fuel.

1/2 the pounds less 10% gets you within a pound for the conversion. Easiest way is to set up and save the numbers both for the XL and th App. Then it's minimal changes for passengers.

Guys,  quick heads up for anyone that downloaded the M20K XL sheet yesterday (It looks like there where about 10 of you)

I accidently linked to the "App" version which is a cut down/open version I use to generate the App service - operator error!

You can see all the workings and it is missing the "pretty" bits.

The link above is updated to the right one with all the sheets..

    Guys,

    a heads up.

I have uploaded links to updated spreadsheets and OpenAsApps for the M20R, R with 310 STC and M20J.

I've edited my first post in this thread to make it easy to find.

    regards

Guys, another heads up. Links in original post now for M20 J, K, R, R with 310 STC and U.

Hi Patrick, @patrickf thanks for the updates. It’s great to have a Mooney specific performance calculator.

i just downloaded the 310hp version and noticed that in the take off and landing tabs the (field/airport) altitude is not present but it still is in the original version. Is that on purpose?

    Robert

Thanks @Robert C. Think I have it sorted - should be good to go.

When you log in to the App it should advise of an update -  Accept it.

General NOTAM - if anyone finds any issues with the Apps, or the XL sheets let me know and I'll attempt to update as soon as able.

  8. Guys,

@haymak3r spotted an error W&B section in the App version of the M20J spreadsheet - thanks.

I had some code that I lost when I cut the copy accross to the "spare" free App copy and had to redo it.

Make sure you accept the update offered when the App opens so you have the current version.

Also if you downloaded a copy of the M20J XL sheet download it again as I have had to make a small change to that as well.

    regards PatrickF

@patrickfSo there is a copy of the app for a J model? If so can I get the link.

    thanks

Apologies for the delayed reply @thomas1142 @Stan and @flyer338

Have been down in Melbourne for the past 3 weeks and have just done a 1700km run home in a day to beat a border closure in QLD - by road unfortunately.

Have J and K working as well as new versions of R and R-310STC. I have spent some time rebuilding them off a consistent base to make support ( or lack of!) easier.

Give me another week or so to clean up and I'll post all together with links.

    Hey Patrick!

Nice to see you staying involved with this...   thank you.

From the 77 M20C POH...  I bought this with the recommendation of Mr. Bill Wheat... for my 1965 M20C...

The conversation was 20 years ago... :)

Are you working on a template for the C models? Any way to make a blank slate for other aircraft? (twins, etc)

    Alex,

I hadn't yet. I went for the newer ones on the basis it involved less work given what I'd done for the R and the J on the basis that there were a lot of them out there.

That said no reason why I can't add the C. I've just had a look at a couple of the POHs in the downloads section and they tend to use tables. Ideally I'd base it off whatever is the latest M20C POH. I understand a fresh one might have been issued in 1977 but haven't seen a copy.

To the second question - Unfortunately as I "go back to the primary source" - the POH - the process is a bit involved so while the ones I've done serve as a template of sorts there is still a fair bit of work to tailor to each - depending on how much the POH varies from the ones I've done.

regards, and happy new year to all

Here is help with links to save others from hunting them down. MMOPA is the PA46 owner’s group. The FRAT tool is a Flight Risk Assessment Tool. Useful but keep in mind that PA46 are FIKI and pressurized. The developer now has a general all-purpose FRAT tool in the Apple App Store. You may find one better than the other for your purposes.

Thanks for the shout out @BlueDun @carusoam. Just realised it's been 2 years since I did the App - time flies! New New years resolution - pull out the 80% complete ones for the other models I've done and get it out. Have a great Christmas everyone.

Patrick (@patrickf) created an app for the Ovation which does exactly what you’re asking for. It’s a real tour de force. Here’s a link to the thread: https://mooneyspace.com/topic/27815-ovation-performance-charts-in-xl/?tab=comments#comment-458890 and a link to the app: https://oaa.app.link/Wbv8GfTJ6Q. This link might require the app Open as App.

Thanks for the shout out @Deb /Dave. You have prompted me to get back onto this again. I have been tied up getting my Instrument rating over here but finished last week so I'll get back to it and finish this job, or at least progress it. I have working versions for the 310 STC and the J's as well as some slight changes on the original which just need to be quality checked. The OpenAsApp guys have also taken on some suggestions so the data entry is easier with an option to open each time with last used values.

I created one on it, once you figure out how to format the data it is pretty easy to use. The biggest drawback was that if I left the app to go to another one it does not save the data that has been input, it refreshes everything to original values.

    Richard @Skates97,

That was an issue with Openasapp when I first used it.

I requested this mod as well as some others. They've done a good job of implementing it so you now have options to use last, as a one off or every time (can't remember all the options) but it works well.

The developer has been very responsive to suggestions.

PS - I have no skin in the game. The guys are out of Germany I believe.

Would be interested in the other one you use

    regards
