  1. Excuse my ignorance, but what is the difference, assuming one has paid a reasonable market price?
  2. LOL - I've been lurking long enough to know exactly how this thread would go - which is why I posed the question. Great stuff here [emoji4] I didn't mention my mission because the differences between an F and J are small enough that either choice share the same mission alignments. But just for some more background, the mission is x-country of more than a few 100nm (between TX, CA, CO (low side), MS, FL), mostly 2 people (my wife and I), but maybe a couples kids on occasion for shorter trips.
  3. What factors, other than sale price, would affect insurance rates?
  4. I'm beginning the search for a Mooney and I thought I had narrowed the choices down to J model. However, now I'm questioning if it's really worth the premium over a well equipped late model F. Assuming a similarly equipped F with a few speed mods, can you guys help me with some pros and cons? After a fair amount of research, here are a few to start with. Pros of a J model over an F generally at least 10 years newer airframe Speed mods already built in Generally better cockpit configuration depending on year Higher VLE ('78+) Better fuel switch (not sure what year the 'off in the middle' ended) A few extra knots depending on the speed mods on an F Cons of a J model Good examples priced at least 20-30k more than similarly equipped F
  5. I'm in the same situation as well. Back from a 19 year break when I stopped at around 38 hours. I started back in October and I'm in check ride prep mode now. Plan is to start looking for a nice F or J once I get a few hours logged post PPL and perhaps post complex endorsement. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  6. That seems on the inexpensive side. Any more details to share? Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  7. Thanks for all the responses and offers! I'm going to take 2esskies up on his offer, since Aero Country is so close to me. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
  8. I've been lurking for a while with the intent to learn more about flying and owning an M20E-J model - but I've never gotten to see one up close. Is there anyone based out of McKinney/ Addison/ Plano that would be willing to give me a tour of their airplane and answer some questions? Thanks in advance! -Chris
  9. What would the process typically be to get transition training in a Mooney assuming one buys their Mooney first, but has no prior experience flying one?
