  1. Check here (https://themooneyflyer.com/cfi.html). You may find some familiar names.
  2. Anyone know where I can find a 3E1872-1 ammeter?
  3. I certainly will. It's also a "firewall forward" job so the engine mount came off for some work, the prop and governor got some attention, and all the wires and whatnot will be tidied up... just to name a few. But like you said, well worth it in the long run to spend the extra time and money doing it right.
  4. Glad to hear you got your plane back and all is well. My current saga is much like yours. Plane went into the shop mid-December, engine went to Jewell mid-late January, and they just got it back last Friday. So I should be about 5-6 weeks behind you on getting her back into the air. I also switched to the 100 series electric speedbrakes and my installation looks much like yours but will be painted to match the wing. I opted to keep the vacuum pump however just to drive the secondary/backup attitude indicator.
  5. I emailed uAvionix... Two questions: First, I noticed on the AML, all Mooney models are shown except the M20K. Is this intentional or simply an unintended omission/typo? Second, can the AV-30-C be used as a standby/backup Attitude Indicator to my Aspen EFD 1000? The response: The FAA limited us in the certification and the M20K has some s/n that are rated above 25,000 ft. I doubt that you fly at those levels, but because the TCDS limits it there that is why it wasn't on the first AML. We hope to expand it to include the M20K in the future. The AV-30-C is a certified backup indicator, but it is dependant on the STC of the Aspen whether they would allow the AV-30-C to be used as a backup indicator. I am sure if you call them they might have an answer for you.
  6. Ok... I forgot that a backup is required for just the EFD 1000. Pic of my panel.....
  7. Technically, we don't even need a backup correct? So what's the logic in allowing it to be used as a primary but not a backup? I have an Aspen as primary. The FAQ states: Can the AV-30 replace my mechanical AI / Direction Indicator / Turn Coordinator? The AV-30-C is approved as a stand-alone attitude indicator, directional gyro (dual unit installation), slip-skid indicator, and as the required backup in an EFIS installation. If the installation configuration leaves no instruments that require a vacuum source, the vacuum pump system may be removed from the aircraft via a 337 field alteration process. The procedure for removal of the vacuum system is aircraft specific and beyond the scope of the AV-30-C Installation and STC approval. Perhaps a typo or unintentional omission, but the Approved Model List does NOT show the M20K... so need to contact them.
  8. The AV-30 is now certified. I'm planning to replace my standby vacuum gyro with one (in conjunction with removing the vacuum system entirely and swapping to electric speedbrakes). I'm not going to bother with another OAT probe just to get TAS and DALT on it. And I may not connect the GPS right now either, haven't decided yet. https://uavionix.com/products/av-30/
  9. Thanks! I've been following for the past three years, learned a lot from everyone here. Easy questions huh? Ok... What's the best place to get an annual? My engine is run out. Do I go factory rebuilt or engine shop overhaul? I kid, I kid... I think those have been beat up just in this thread alone.
  10. Happy it all worked out for you, even though it was a painful process. Glad I got to see your plane before you flew it away. They did a really good job and I was impressed how well it was all put together. Hoping mine will be able to keep up with yours when I get it back. Thanks for sharing, I'm learning a lot.
