  1. Sorry, yes, that would be helpful, 70’ F model, IO-360, GAMI’s, PF exhaust, and CHR-30P. I wasn’t sure if normal practices were still followed. I see in the other response that status quo practices still apply, thanks all! Looking forward to seeing advantages to EI! Yes, SF on left mag, I misunderstood the instructions for starting from the MX that installed it, and I had preconceived notions about how the start would go, which were wrong. Thanks to all who replied! I’ll Be flying today, cooler wx with high overcast will make a great day!

  3. I have recently had the SureFly EI installed, And have one flight in the books. I spent longer than I thought I would trying to start the engine, what is your start sequence? Thanks!
  4. Just wanted to give Alan Fox a big thanks on this forum! I was having trouble finding an emergency gear extension cable assembly for my ‘70 F model, so I went to the internet for help. Alan had the assembly, and I just happened to be on a layover in Philadelphia, 45 minutes from Alan. He picked me up, showed me what a real Philly cheesesteak was, brought me to his shop, gave me the tools to verify the working order of the part, and drove me to the train station to go back to my hotel! Had a great experience, and made another aviation friend! Thanks Alan!
  5. Update: I purchased an 1970 “F” model and brought it home last week! I couldn’t be happier with whole process. I purchased the aircraft from All American Aircraft, Jimmy and David were great to work with! Ron Fisher did the prebuy, he was very helpful in explaining the process, maintenance, and nuances of the aircraft to a newbie like me. And a “thank you” goes out to all of you who took the time to write a response to my questions! Happy flying!
  6. One of the aircraft I am looking at has 25 year old bladder tanks, does anyone on here have bladders that old or older? Should I expect issues? According to the logbooks very little maintenance has been performed on them over the years, just the applicable AD.
  7. Thanks once again folks for your help. I visited an airplane on my list, relatively local E, first I'd sat in one, while not huge on the inside, doable for me and my mission. Nice airplane (but older panel and tanks not resealed in quite a while though), nice owner. Wanted to make an offer, but was advised to see other airplanes before deciding. So next week I'll go to Spring Branch and see about the E they have (newer panel and O&N bladders).
  8. That's good to hear, they have an airplane that is on my list, and it falls in line with your advice. Just curious on the experiences folks have had with them.
  9. Does anyone have experience working with All American Aircraft Sales in Spring Branch, TX?
  10. Yes, I got answers to questions I hadn't even thought of yet! All good and useful stuff! Another Mooney owner told me to join this site and ask any Mooney question and I wouldn't be disappointed. He was right! Thanks everyone for your wisdom! I am going to visit a prospective E model next week, it will be the first time being hands on with a Mooney. The airframe is perfect for my mission, I am a little concerned I will be cramped, as I am "bigger than the average bear".
  11. Yes it is, realizing fully that the seller may be in this forum. Are you familar with it? I had a nice talk with the gentleman. Getting my ducks in a row; however I have not seen it in person yet. I am a serious buyer for the right aircraft.
  12. I am in the market for a commuter Mooney, mission is a 200nm leg, East of the Mississippi, found an 65' E model near me in southern Ohio for around $40,000, 2300TT 300 SMOH, it needs the fuel tanks sealed. Any other red flags to worry about, any suggestions for a shop to do a pre-buy inspection in OH or WV? Thanks in advance!
