  1. My boost pump is 28V, parts manual lists it as Weldon A8613B
  2. Sounds much more manageable to remove the access panel, then will be able to confirm source of the leak. I always take photos during disassembly to assist in putting it back together.
  3. I didn’t think any fuel leaking from anywhere near the engine is common or normal, I was surprised by mechanic’s reply. I did see that the outer side of the access panel was screws yet the gear door hinge was the inward side, otherwise I would have simply unscrewed it. It does not look trivial to remove as mentioned by kortopates, thank you. Any idea how difficult it is? I’m not waiting my AP to come back, I was already uncomfortable by his low priority concern. I will have a local guy confirm cause and get overhauled unit or mine overhauled. Thanks to all to who gave their thoughts.
  4. On the day I picked up my 93 J from annual, I noticed a slow drip of fuel behind my nose wheel and forward of my fuel sump on ground, perhaps a drip every 20 seconds. Shutting off fuel valve stops it. Turning on boost pump causes it to leak more. My AP states that it’s the boost pump seal that can leak in cold weather, I’m in Florida and weather has been seasonally colder in recent days. He states once weather gets warmer in a few days it will stop and its “common” for Mooney’s. I’ve not seen any such posting on this “common” problem on Mooneyspace and have only had the airplane 1 year but it never leaked before. He says not to replace the pump “till it needs it”, I’m not sure what to believe, I flew it once and it dripped at my destination. I would understand the issue more if my wing fuel tank was leaking, but this one is closer to the engine. It appears to be a Weldon A8163B, $1269 from Spruce. I haven’t checked yet whether it’s under an inspection panel or the one piece belly, but believe once I get access to it will be able to see where it’s actually dripping from. My AP is on vacation till second week of January. I would appreciate any thoughts on this.
  5. I am fortunate to have Bob Bramble at my home field, he overhauled my AI last year. My DG currently is a bit over 10 degrees off now, going to have it checked out.
  6. On my 93 M20J, my King HSI DG is off about 10 degrees from my compass that matches the compass rose at my airport. The remote compass sending unit above inspection plate in left wing has a circular sliding adjustment available, yet only provides about 3/4” total travel, perhaps about 20 degrees. When I attempt to turn the unit to align my DG, I’m limited to about 10 degrees east of 360 degree north. I don’t see a simple way to re-install unit in different orientation so that my available travel is more centered. I must be missing something to do.
  7. M20FanJesse, please stop hustling me for your publication!
  8. I’ve dealt with other vendors in similar circumstances and have learned to just walk away, regardless of my desire for the product.
  9. Forgetting the potential special pricing, how much do these units typically cost?
  10. I’m looking for a WX-900 if anyone has one. Scott
  11. I have a M20J at SRQ looking for a partner, you won’t find a nicer airplane, needs nothing, 1993. Still interested? Scott
  12. I have a newly purchased set of 3” extensions and have reconsidered whether I should have purchased the 1.5” instead. So I may be interested in swapping the 3” for 1.5” or possibly selling outright the 3”, but not sure. My concern is I may add a partner to my plane and fear he might be too tall and hesitant to install the 3” extensions until I know better. If it were just me flying I wouldn’t hesitate to install the 3” ones.
  13. Selling a used 650 and buying a used 750 is very expensive. I just bought a Garmin Aera 660 and it is “aviation grade” mounted on my yoke using much less space than my iPad Mini.
  14. I have a GTN 650 and GTX 345 but the screen size is too small on the 650 to read anything on the map. I wish I had a 750 but the 650 was installed before I bought the plane. A Mooney friend has the older Apollo MX20 (Garmin bought Apollo and replaced it with GMX200) in his plane connected to his GNS 430 and it works great. The MX20/GMX200 is a large screen. Im considering purchasing a used GMX 200 and installing I’m my 201 for map and traffic, or I could subscribe and get charts for the GMX 200. The unit is not supported by Garmin anymore but since it’s only acting as a display I’m not so concerned given the lower cost. Used GMX 200’s sell for $2k -$4k plus install. I use an iPad Mini with ForeFlight connected to my 345, but would prefer to have a panel mounted sunlight readable large screen that doesn’t freeze or get too hot. Anyone have any wisdom to share on this thought?
