  1. There was a post some time back where a MS member had pictures of the prop static and from the side in flight. The position was approximately the same.
  2. For some reason I’ve seen it a lot more on the 99-2003 vintage birds…not sure.
  3. I’m not sure why but the old two blade and larger spinner never had the problem of not being exactly centered to the cowling. However, as soon as the top prop was installed 2008 ish it always looked low/sag. It might be the extra weight of the prop, I’m not sure. It has remained stationary for thousands of hours and does not center itself in flight. The shims make the “step” from the spinner to the cowling exactly the same around the circumference.
  4. Wow, nice hangar to work in! Enjoy the process and be safe.
  5. Nope, it’ll be another workout to get them in. Even after a few hundred hours it was a pain and I’m glad I was there to help the IA get it back together. However, as aviation projects go it was a simple project.
  6. Someone mentioned it was recently sold…did it have shoulder restraints?
  7. Yes and Yes, perfectly centered now. Probably the same MSC’s that claim it’s impossible to increase the FF on the 310 upgrade over 26 gph. Frame stays on the aircraft. No different than replacing the lord mounts, just add a shim to each side in the front. it doesn’t take much…I think the shim is 1/4 inch thick.
  8. Call laser and ask for two shims. Put them under the front lord mounts. Problem solved. Nice Mooney by the way, Bob is a great guy and a trustworthy seller.
  9. @MediumSpeedAluminumTubing was trying to contact you last week, not sure if he made contact.
  10. If the thin blade top prop ever gets certified for the bravo I think it will help to close the gap as well. The bravo is a great plane although the prices have really gone up along with the ovation. If there was ever a time to upgrade a long body to a twin (value wise) now is the time. @pkofman The only way I would upgrade to a newer aircraft from yours is an Ultra or a very good condition 2015+ model. To be honest an Ultra in the 500-550 range (some are getting close) is not that bad of a deal especially since I don’t think they will every make anymore of them.
  11. This is what 0.32 inches looks like for flush mount depth. Keep in mind that’s the spacer thickness not the total which was 0.42 inches IIRC.
  12. That was the original configuration of all the steam panel long body aircraft. The late model mid body aircraft and the gx long body had it off to the side.
  13. I’d say it sold or someone’s going on an extended “test drive”.
  14. Not many B hubs out there and the price has really skyrocketed. At $2 per hour I continue to fly on my AD prop. In reality, for where I’m located, the 20 min test once or twice a year is no big deal. @Stephen Slate have you looked around your area for convenient shops that perform the ND test?
  15. That’s all I was referring to, good idea to have it in the buyers agreement.
  16. How would you change the wording so they would be required to put the plane back together? Let’s say for instance he found some play in your turbo shaft and won’t put the plane together unless it’s corrected by him...and he’s the only one allowed to work on the field? If the buyer refuses to pay the higher cost of a msc prebuy? Or one is not conveniently located?
  17. I’ve noticed over the years there seems to division between some buyers/sellers about the prebuy process. On the buyers side they feel having their own shop/trusted shop/popular shop of the week go through everything to make sure expensive surprises are not found later on. Sometimes/often the sellers are unwilling to release their plane to just anyone to tear apart for fear the mechanic will be unreasonable or not have the expertise to do the job properly. Thoughts? Reasoning? Examples of extremes in both directions? I’m looking at listing a plane in 6 months or so. I’m considering a middle ground that I’ll fly the plane to a local (100 miles?) mechanic who will have to sign a release that the plane will be returned to the exact condition it arrived. That document, which will limit the days to complete inspection, will need a signature w/IA number before a screwdriver comes out. Worthwhile?
  18. Like all things aviation, no problem that money can’t fix. Slap a 4 blade on the nose of that rocket...
  19. I always repost this from a few years back on BT...
  20. JP et al will never increase the rates to a meaningful level. Any mention of that and the big money movers will just unload for a few months and “tell” him to get back in line. Nothing is going to change until someone comes to collect on (rule with) all the debt we owe...
  21. You probably have the only G that will ever have a TXi system. Put some hours on the plane and toss in a gfc500 when you’re ready.
  22. I found Pacific Oil Cooler to have very good CS and quality with fair pricing, great choice.
  23. Well I’m going to suggest painting the plane now. There is no perfect time to upgrade an aircraft and all upgrades start to age (technology/style/shine) the moment they are done. Obviously if the windows or tanks need to be done schedule those first but why put off something you want for the possibility of future upgrades in other areas...life’s too short.
