  1. Hi Hank, It's true that DAB is ultra saturated, but there's a lot less activity at night. The multiple flight schools there generally send their instrument students out then and the controllers are pretty used to the reduced traffic and larger population of instrument students at that time. I generally try to steer clear of flight student activity in general (which is why I'm a fan on MLB as well), but shooting approaches in a somewhat busy Charlie is fantastic practice no matter how you slice it. Depending on where you are in the area I would definitely recommend SGJ further to the north of DAB. Pretty calm in terms of traffic, Jax approach is really accommodating in that area, and the tower there is outstanding.
  2. Howdy Charles, I currently live in Port Orange and operated a '79 J model out of DAB for a little more than a year. I'm not a CFI, but I've got a wide range of experience and am absolutely willing to help you out in any way I can! Blake
  3. Hi Mike, Yes, I'm at ER in Daytona. I've been trying to find anyone at DAB with a mooney background and haven't had much luck.
  4. Nothing specific that I am aware of, just that I'm confident being self-taught means I don't know what everyone else knows.
  5. Yeah! He was my freshman year roommate in college. Same here, had some great times in it.
  6. Apologies, my name's Blake Haubold and I am on Facebook. I'll be sure to be at Flagler that day!
  7. Howdy all, I'm a college student in Daytona Beach and have been flying a '79 J for almost a year now. I'm entirely self-taught on my Mooney and am very interested in learning from more experienced pilots in the Florida area. I'm also in desperate need of meeting other people with airplanes. If anyone would like to grab lunch somewhere and talk Mooneys (or even fly) with a young person in aviation, I'm your guy! Thanks!
