  1. Thanks for all your help guys! We pulled the brushes today and they were worn down to nothing. I have decided the easy and cheap fix is to replace the brushes. They are ordered and should be here soon. Thanks again.
  2. Ok - as long as I need an alternator, I would like to upgrade while I'm at it and believe the Plane Power AL12-P70 is the correct fit for my 75 M20F. Can anyone confirm before I order one?
  3. I have been searching but can't seem to understand which PlanePower model is correct for my '75 M20F with a IO-360-A1A. Can anyone help?
  4. Hello All, '75 M20F I have a PRESTOLITE ALY8420 alternator that I believe has gone bad. I get about 13.6+- volts when at cruise setting but it can drop a little lower at idle. Lately I have had the voltage enunciator flashing from time to time. Today I did some test and found 10.5 volts on the field wire at the alternator, my voltage regulator has a troubleshooting light on it and it's Green (a ok). I also tested the ohm's reading of the field on the alternator and got 9-15ohms spiking to 30+ ohms if I found the right spot while turning the pulley. This has led me to conclude I need a new alternator. I have contact AirPower in Arlington, TX and they only have a reman alternator ALY8520 supplied from Cessna. I want a new PlanePower alternator if I can get it. Where can I get a new alternator? Philip
  5. Are you saying I would just need an Allen wrench to install it and it should work without any wiring?
  6. Yes. Should be able to get a picture in the next few days.
  7. I ran into this also. Had to adjust manually. I just found this in the install manual. With all of these settings, surely it can be changed to work automatically. Current Mode Default Mode Minimum Photocell Input Minimum Display Brightness Maximum Photocell Input Maximum Display Brightness Filter Time Constant Thus far, I don't know what these specifically do and haven't found any explanation. But one of these has to be the ticket - if they exist in the G5 Certified unit. I bet it's Minimum Display Brightness.
  8. I have 1 s-tec alt-hold servo back there also. In my case, it was not an issue.
  9. Both are in the avionics bay. GMU 11 is high mounted back between the static ports.
  10. On my flight yesterday I shot and ILS and and RNAV and the glide slope was slower to capture than on the second radio but it was there in plenty of time and visible on both G5's. One thing that is definitely missing is a minimum setting. It has an altitude bug that can be set but it's in 100ft increments. That's not granular enough for setting an approach minimum. I'm sure they can add this in a future software release. I hope they will. Thus far, I'm impressed and very pleased with my purchase.
  11. My ASI has miles on the outside and knots on the inner ring.
