Where can I find that part?
-
Terry - I'm just south of the SFRA. I will be flying quite a bit to N94 (Carlisle) so maybe I can drop the family off sometime and then shoot over to wherever you are! This might be a great plan - need to find the tools.
-
Thanks for everyones help so far during week 1 of ownership! I need to come up with a plan for replacing the 1988 era shock disks on my M20C. Plan A: Have A&P/IA perform at annual in 6 months. I will have to rent the tool for him to use - not really a convenient location to do owner assist. Plan B: Rent tool and do the work myself. Local field A&P will sign off but will charge about 50% of the cost just to sign off to offset his A&P insurance costs. Plan C: Find another Mooneyspacer that knows what they are doing and can assist and help find an A&P to sign off. Plan D: Take it to Mid Atlantic MSC and have them do it. Plan E: ??? So - anyone out there interested in helping with the job? Have the tools? Knows an A&P? Likes free beer?

Just ordered from Chocks. I will see if I can find the appropriate screw and washer.
-
Ouch! Especially when the 172 will be the FIRST models of the new autopilots coming on the market and are probably BETTER than the STEC. I've heard quotes as high as 20K for an STEC installed on a Mooney but the VREF only adds 3500 to its "value".

Thanks! Perfect amount of detail that I needed. Anyone know where to find the piece of upholstery for the door? I don't think the plastic is compatible with this assembly which is probably why it was removed in the first place.
-
Is there a common replacement part for the fuel pump, pitot heat, landing light and Nav light switches for a 1965. My switches are very worn.
-
Much appreciated! The door plastics are definitely not original. I think there was supposed to be an upholstered panel like the one in your picture. Not sure if your bracket will fit wth the plastic stuff.
-
I need the screws that hold the bracket to the door. It also looks like there is a bracket on the door that the arm screws into.
-
So I know I can buy the new arm but the arm attaches to brackets and also has screws. What kind of bracket and screws? Also - the interior seems different and has an upholstered panel and mine has the plastic for years the later model.

Door Slide Replacement Product
Drumstick replied to dcrogers11's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
Not meaning to necropost - but what was the outcome of this experiment? -
Starting a new thread for this topic. I've seen the other posts but not all the hardware was covered. Most were replacing a broken arm - mine is missing -everything! So I can get the arm from a member but is there a bracket that is missing as well? The plastic pieces are from a newer M20c as it is molded for the newer style door arm.

Outstanding - thanks for the info. I downloaded the 9/16 software but have not installed yet. I will contact insight to confirm this will fix the bug. Update: problem resolved with software update.

Jose - I see no reference in the manuals about a battery. Any ideas where to look?

5 years of data and it stopped logging in December. It created a 2017 folder but did not log last 20 hours of flight data. Any ideas? Seems to be working ok otherwise.

Garmin 430 and portable GPS integration
Drumstick replied to Drumstick's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
Thanks Rich. So if I want to do ZERO work I need to find a 496. If I want an Aera 500 etc I need a new wiring. -
The aircraft I purchased has a Non-WAAS 430 that was wired for integration with a Garmin 496. This combination worked very well but the owner kept the 496 for their new aircraft. Do any other handheld GPS units integrate nicely with the 430 or should I just continue to look for a used 496 on Ebay?

The EA-6B was uncommonly referred to as a drumstick with wings...it was the first non-trainer that I ever flew...

1/11 Aircraft PPI - Foothills Aviation Curtis was great to work with and pointed out most things that the owner had already shown me. Discovered shock disks were older than I thought and some hoses should probably be replaced at next annual. Alternator or Regulator needed replaced. KX-155 needs repaired. 1/12 Closed Deal 1/13 Worked with owner and A&P to replace voltage regulator. 1st flight and checkout with CFI that afternoon. 1/14 Avionics orientation with previous owner and then first leg of solo ferry IYK-PRC. 1/15 PRC-PVW then PVW-GYI. 1/16 GYI-GSP (VFR to IFR) then GSP-FAY 1/17 FAY-2W6 Lots of discovery learning along the way but otherwise uneventful cross country during the middle of winter and contending with Winter Storm Jupiter. I'll try to write up a more extensive trip report some time later. Can't thank the members of this forum enough for the valuable knowledge that is archived on this site. Thanks to Pam Roach and Shelly Parker of Bank of Locust Grove. Mike Jacobs of First Pryority Bank. Al Nur of AOPA Insurance. Curtis at Foothills Aviation KCCB. William Hickle Aerospace at KIYK. Brian Cepaitis (CFI) at Farris Aviation at KIYK. All the great folks that I met at the FBOs along the way. Great turns at Legend Aerospace at KPRC. Super friendly crowd at Rocket Aviation KPVW. Jaimey was super helpful getting a place to stay at KGYI and the line rats were very patient with a new owner. Watch out for the fuel prices at KGSP as they have a new owner and the 100LL prices on WingX Pro are wayyyy off. Lots of Hooah at KFAY. Lastly - Thanks to Ken Reed at 2W6 who met me plane side within 2 minutes of landing to show me the hangar and a tour of the facility that is now home (again) to 56Q. I've logged 18 hours in less than a week. Tons more to learn... 56Q Needs - Little spots of surface corrosion on main landing gear - needs fixed up. Must find a place that can replace the shock discs at a fair price. Needs new hinges for nose gear doors. I would like to find a replacement baggage door arm. I would like to start replacing hoses that are old and have no date tags but otherwise functional. Downlock block should probably be replaced as its 52 years old and I would like a little peace of mind that I know its not worn out. G430 is non-waas but am I really going to be flying in conditions that need 200 foot mins? And like most...ADS-B in the next few years. Pics to follow...

Weather was abysmal on the 12th. We canceled a ferry flight from Foothills to IYK that day due to weather and both of us are instrument rated. Condolences to the family.
-
New guy question here: I am buying an aircraft with a 430 (non waas). What exactly do I need to acquire to keep it updated? (subscriptions loaders etc)
-
Make sure you contact you talk with your lender unless paying cash. The banks that AOPA has referred me to have all required all logs since new as a condition of lending. They aren't willing to risk their money on an unknown history.
