  1. I'm based on what's listed as a 2600ft grass strip. I've stepped it off, and it's not that long at all. I know my paces cant be 200 off. Got my private there in my 65C. Rain isn't a problem for ours, as it is crowned pretty well. Extreme dry summers on the Arkansas/Texas border tend to make it a little bouncy. I'm only at 400hrs, but have over 300 takeoff and landings there. I feel most comfortable there as opposed to big runways that make me nervous. Agree with RobertGary, as long as it's a fairly smooth one. Shouldn't have a problem. I cross the threshold/barbed wire fence at 80mph with just me and never have to touch the brakes to turn off 3/4 of the way down. 4. Heard there was a mooney takeoff incident at khhw? Anyone hear that? Sent from my SM-G955U1 using Tapatalk
  5. I forgot to add...the date on the pump was March of 1986. Use it for prime, all takeoffs and landings. Have even forgot and let it run on occasion for a 45 minute flight or so. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using Tapatalk
  6. Just got my weldon rebuilt. It has always been loud, but I thought it was normal. It started tripping the breaker every now and then on final. For some reason it wouldnt do it on the ground or takeoff. Finally, it wouldnt come on at all. Tripped the breaker as soon as it was switched it on. The inner tinker-man in me told me to take it apart and have a look. Bearings on the electric motor.....one was locked up and the other one was on its way. The armature looked brand new other than some dust. The brushes were only about 25% used up. Everything else looked not hardly used at all. I sourced bearings.....4.50 plus tax. It's the same as a high performance skateboard bearing. Rated at 37,000 rpm. Brushes sourced locally would cost about 15 bucks. Could I have fixed it? Most certainly. What did I do? Sent it in and had them do it. Why? It's that important to mine and the souls on board. Got it back and they did just what I would've done, except I know that they have the expertise and test equipment to make sure of it working. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using Tapatalk

  8. Is it legal for the mechanic to replace bearings in the electric part of the motor? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using Tapatalk
  9. Ended up with something loose in the SOS and a bad plug on the left mag side. Battery was getting weak, so was replaced also. It was a 5 yr old Gill. Starts like it's supposed to now! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using Tapatalk
  10. Will try again Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using Tapatalk
  11. I know it sounds crazy. It's basically the hot start for the io360, but always starts a lot quicker that way hot or cold. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using Tapatalk
  12. I have a 65 C that has all of a sudden gotten harder to start. Cold start.....boost pump on then off after pressure comes up. Pump throttle 3 times with mixture out. Then turn key. Usually it would start within 3 revolutions. As soon as it fires, I push mixture in. Lately, 3pumps as usual, no start. Repeat, no start. Push mixture in and while starting, pump about 3 more times before it starts. At oil change and visual inspection, I noticed some fuel stain on the cowl flap on the pilot side. Figured if fuel gets out, there also has to be an air leak. It came from the rubber section on the intake tubes. Had them all replaced with new and with new clamps and new gaskets. Still having the same issue starting. Any ideas? Hot starts is similar. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using Tapatalk
