  1. I have personally met the people at Brittian and I can tell you that they are all REALLY great people! You will not get better service from anywhere else Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. In my 67F with 201 windshield, brakes rotated, lower cowl, I see 152kts true at 65% power 9500 ft density alt around 11500, burning 9.4 gal per hour. I use my trusty E6B during cruise. I have verified that it is correct with a 3 way GS calc before I would think your TN would give you a bit better performance at altitude Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. FS450 is a nice fuel flow with adjustable tank size but not separate quantities, might connect to your particular GPS Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. I have flown with many people, many different airplanes, everyone makes mistakes. Any pilot that tells you that they have never screwed up, forgot something, got confused, needs to have a memory check completed. The idea is to keep the big mistakes out ( stall spin, collision, CFIT ) , and never let the small mistakes( everything else ) pile up in your head to allow the big mistake to happen. take a trusted pilot/CFI with you, to help make this fun. It's suppose to be fun right Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. I used Falcon when I bought my 67F last August, well priced at 825, with a 50K hull. I had 150 hrs in a M20C a long time ago, no CFI requirements from the insurance( although I did get a few hours dual for my benefit ) This years quote from Falcon jumped up to 960. I called AOPA insurance and they quoted 662. Falcon lost a good customer Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. You mean just like Sturgis!! I spoke with an ex Sturgis city council member . He explained several dump tuck loads of trash are removed from the streets each night, equaling 75 tons of trash left on the ground, and it takes 1 year to get through all the court cases filed during the event Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. Really need a card reader writer for my GX50. Needs to for the Cisco smart pcmacia cards. I am sure someone has one they don't use anymore Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. Needing a card writer for my Apollo GX50 updates. Needs to read/write the Cisco smart cards( pcmacia ) I am sure someone has one laying around. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Opinion only! Do not let it sit, do not try and pickle it, what you miss will be expensive to repair, and mice and others love quite places! Find a good friend or trusted local CFI trying to build time without instructing to fly it a few times a month maybe make a deal that they pay for fuel, have them keep it clean, washed, waxed, fueled, keep it insured and in annual, pay for repairs, Come home to a flying clean, aircraft. If you can't keep it flying, sell it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. Jeeze, I feel like I was spanked! I guess I didn't read your first post close enough, all I can say after reading it again is when doin the IZA approaches just be slowed down before the IAF. In a utopian no wind situation IAF 6000 airport 674 need to loose 5300 feet in 16.3 miles, at 90kts approach speed or 1.5 miles per min that gives you 10.8 min time to descend that's 530fpm Set the power, configure early stabilized approach. this descent rate is not unlike most. At a midwest flat lander airport ILS you would need to loose 1700 feet in 4.1 miles that's 640fpm if your on the glide slope and at 90kias no wind. steeper than your approach. I was just trying to help
  11. In an older Mooney. Just plan your descent, from cruising altitude every 1000' you need to loose, plan 5 miles. so from 12k to 1k = 11 x 5 = 55 miles out pitch over to top of green (150mph) this will give you roughly 500-600 fpm, slowly reduce your power( 1" per 1k is an old big cont thingy but gets the mp moving backwards not forward in the decent) control egt with mixture all the way down. Plan to level off a few miles from your airport pattern or FAF, at 14-15 inches and you will slow to gear speed Now this isn't always perfect, do to that pesky ground speed thingy, but it's simple math. Remember the days without GPS! How did we ever descend properly. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. My 67 F had same problem when I purchased it, I have the butterfly. My problem was simple to fix, someone had put a screw in the box that was to long and preventing the flapper from closing all the way. Change out the screw. and its was like having AC ( not really but no more heat when I don't want heat) when I want heat, it's there with a vengeance Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. I have a 67 F, we could compare some notes. I have few upgrades like a 201 windshield and gap seals I have a JPI fuel flow FS450 but no fancy engine monitor. I climb out at 105KIAS WOT and 2700, see 500FPM if I'm real heavy, if I'm alone and light on fuel 800 + in the climb I dont lean until above 5K, use power setting from POH for cruise. I routinely see 152-155 KTS true at altitude ( Sunday at 9k DA 112K true was 155 ) and burning 10.2 if memory is correct Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. Yippee!!!!!!!!! Now I need one more Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. I know these are old piper vents but, These have been installed in almost every Helio I have flown, great for inflight airflow . Has anyone used these in in a Mooney? https://www.aircraftspruce.com/pages/ap/airinletkits/wag-h919-000.php Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. I'm not sure I want to stir this pot but! I have done tower requested 360s on a downwind (hold) because of an emergency on an airliner. I have had a wing lifted on a taxi because of an airliner powering up while I was behind them( always be prepared) i have also given center the other dudes (friend) tail number and told them I wouldn't mind holding and to let the other guy in first ( me), this was ifr and NDB aproaches, I did cancel as soon as I could( we both had a good laugh about this) . Don't tell the Feds! I will always let a corporate dude or airliner in or out before me, I will slow down if I hear them coming in and I will be getting in there way, if I'm fun flying, I have done loads and loads of T&Gs but don't think they prepare you for anything and just save time. They have there place, it's not a go around, they take more runway than an on speed full stop in a Mooney ( if your doing this because of a runway obstruction) This is all fun stuff, it's about having fun isn't it Sharing our experiences, so others know it isn't so bad when they get to experience a new happening. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. Grew up in Maine ( moose) and airplanes are shiny, my plane is dull but dull moose didn't sound good. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. Just cut a pice of aluminum to fit under the filter and long enough to drain oil outside of cowling. Slightly unscrew filter let drain for a few min, remove filter. No mess dry engine after Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. Mooneys mostly do not have to worry about landing distances cause if you can meet take off performance limits from a runway you surely have enough room to land ( as long as your on speeds of course) remember every knot over speed adds 100' to your landing distance That runway is 1900 ft with a 600 ft rough cut extension, rising terrain, no runway condition reports, owner states on website "bush pilots only". That tells me rough surface, cause everything else about runway is printed. It's not something for me, No outs. But I would like to know how it goes Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. I would have your favorite A&P start from the beginning, no induction leak, no fuel servo leaks, gap plugs, mag points, timing, idle ( bottomed out) and mixture setting( reset to middle with correct measurement) . Looks like someone's been turning screws to compensate for something Opinion only Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. I am normally just a lurker, but I would scope the cylinders, if the non steel ( piston, head) parts have not been distroyed due to improper combustion, heat. Then Look into the lot/ manufacturing date of those plugs, we might have more plug failures coming due to plug material not properly controlled just my opinion , and very interested in what the plug manufacturer response is
  22. I have a pair of locking caps on my F model ( looks like a modification but no documentation ) and I get leaking out of the lock, not much and only when full tanks but very annoying Can you send possibly show a picture of your locking caps and who made them. I have made several attempts to get info on my caps but no luck. YET!

  23. I have a deal pending right now, if it falls through I will be contacting you jeff
  24. looking for a GX 60, of a GNC300XL If anyone is upgrading. Needs to be in good condition( good screen) with an 8130, box mount, antenna would be nice but not required .
  25. If the OP doesn't want your 2 fuel caps I would be interested in them. Mine are in nice condition they just have locks installed by PO, Or original owner. I wouldn't trust them not to leak in the rain jeff
