  3. my '07? Acclaim (s/n 0031) is G700 w/nonWAAS G1K and it would really be nice to have that added utility. Any idea of cost for conversion? My avionics guy checked on it after I bought this bird a few years back & said $30K! I said I didn't need it that badly... TIA

  5. Can someone out there in Mooney land please enlighten me on what the thread pattern is for my M20TN's lift point? I'm told that ppl generally buy some eye bolts that screw in there to make wing tie downs, but I cannot figure out the thread pattern. I've spent about $20 on hardware and have yet to figure out the right threads. I guess I can take my metric & standard tap & die sets out and eventually hit the right one, but I didn't think it would be this difficult. Also what is everyone doing for gust locks on this model (and others)? I'm not a seat belt across the yoke kind of guy & the flap/aileron system that I have been using externally made the paint look like it could become a problem if used long term (a week out in the sun in Mexico made me nervous about that). I'm thinking about fabricating something that attaches to the bottom of the yokes, but haven't finish the design on that yet. THANKS for any quality input.
  6. Does anyone know how/if I can adjust the altitude alarm that on my G1K plane is giving me an alarm 1,000' before I reach an altitude when climbing and 200' before when descending (IIRC). My G500 provided the alarms at 200' before & after and I prefer 200' to 1,000'. THX
  7. I just bought an Acclaim this week and am trying to become FRIENDS with it, however the landings are the only conflict that seems to remain. I did make a 1 notch of flaps landing yesterday inadvertently and it was my BEST LANDING YET!!! I tried it again after a 2 hour cross country and PRESTO another near greaser. I'm coming out of a C340 where flying at 100kts down final is SOP and actually prefer the higher speed. The float and ballooning I was getting when trying to land with full flaps was EXCRUCIATING and certainly made me feel like a student pilot. I haven't used the speed brakes much yet, but I plan on doing some practice landings today and will see how they affect my 1 notch flap landings. I think it will be something that I will like and utilize in short field environments. I am flying into a 3K' strip in the Bahamas on Wednesday, so I need to have this figured out in advance of that mission. But I plan on winning this battle of wills to make friends with this new beautiful bird, even if I have to do things HER way... thx for all the good tips & insight found in this space.
